And he's not happy about it.

I'll bet hotlanta and chip82 had their panties all bunched up when we didn't sign Roy.

And, he only plays 3 months a season to boot.

And at least he's expensive too.

It gets worse. A couple of days ago he had pitched two innings out of the bullpen. The team wanted him to pitch a 3rd inning and he refused.

Pretty sure if I was getting paid 4 million bucks to go out and have some fun (on a winning team, no less), I would do absolutely anything my boss told me to do.

Yep, I don't see what he's whining so much about. If Dempster has another couple of rocky outings Oswalt could end up being a starter again anyway.

I don't think he would be after this performance. Of course, I would be speaking out of spite instead of doing "what's best for the team". I wouldn't let a guy that said he wasn't going to go out for a 3rd inning and is making 4 million a year go out and make another start for my team, ever.

Seriously.

Who thought Oswalt was such a drama queen?

"Well, I mean we're 4-2 in the games I started. I guess I should've been 6-0."

LOL apparently Oswalt is a big believer in W/L record... even though he's given up 24 earned runs in his last 5 starts.

These guys have finally ceased to amaze me. When Jamie Moyer became petulant in Philly, I told myself to never trust the "gentleman of the game" reputation again. Sadly, 90% of these players overestimate their value by a ton, and get offended like a little child in the last years of their fading ability (coughSMOLTZcough). I understand they're competitors by nature, but Billy Wagner was a fierce competitor and he went out on top, with no humiliation, no fits pitched. Looks like Chipper will do the same.

But if you can't go out on top, at least have enough self-awareness not to come off as a little baby.

True.

I mean, Oswalt acts like he is in disbelief by the whole situation. It's like... hello? have you looked at your stats recently? You've been getting lit up my friend. Can you really complain when you have a 5.82 ERA next to your name?

Meanwhile Feldman has been excellent for 3 starts in a row, pitching at least 7 innings per start and giving up no more than 2 earned runs. You can't blame them for going with the hot hand.

If he were truly competitive, I say he should be determined to prove them wrong by pitching like a boss in the bullpen and earning a chance to make another start.

Mike Mussina's last year was stellar. He had decided to retire and did so.

If you look at Wagner's stats and salary at the end of his career, you will see that his stats and salary were still high. When Smoltz was the end he was given an incentive based contract from the Red Sox and refused one from the Braves. One of the dumb incentives the Braves had in there was if he started the season on the team. They knew that he was injured and wouldn't be there to play at the start of the season.

<And Smoltz threw a fit, cried, sucked his thumb and crapped his diaper, went off to Boston, got the crap kicked out of him, then went to St Louis to get some more crap kicked out of him, then finally realized....."hmmmmm maybe im done, let me make up with the Braves so they will let me tell my corny jokes on the air."

I think I will be forever pissed at him for the way he acted on his way out.

Smoltz showed his butt. I'm not gonna get into it much cuz I like you and I know it's a touchy subject for a lot of fans. But his legacy is pretty badly soiled for me. Maybe with a bit more time, I'll be more mature about it. For now, I keep this picture framed to help my feelings:

yep! But Glavine was somewhat smart enough to keep his comments controlled. Smoltz pretty much slammed the organization for a while. Cant stand that. When its time to hang it, its time. Be greatful for having the opportunity to make a dam good living plaing a KIDS game as a job.

Glavine also had a decent gripe. He was genuinely mislead. JS's apology suggests even the Braves knew that was a bit of a screwjob.

And he was far less petulant than Sm*ltz (said the petulant poster).
