Under the circumstances, not a bad lineup by Farrell.

I know SSS and all...but Vizquel is .360 career in 25AB's against Cook and KJ is frickin 1/14 against him.

Seriously makes no sense to me.

Also have no clue why Gose is batting leadoff when Lawrie has done a tremendous job in that slot. Gose should be batting 9th.

You guys are ridiculous. JP IS HOT RIGHT NOW. When he is hot you have to stick him in the middle of the order, and when he is cold you have to bury him at the bottom of the lineup.
He is hitting .320 in July!

Anyways... Snider and Johnson should swap spots, KJ is doing nothing right now.

I don't think SSS applies so much to individual matchups, at least not once they've seen a pitcher in 3 or four different starts. Sometimes I think you have to simply say that a particular batter may see the ball well off that pitcher.

The Jays stats are interesting career vs Cook. The righties have hit him really well and the lefties have been terrible, yet on the season and in his career lefties have always hit him much better. It'll be interesting to see which is the case today.

He is a very streaky player. Ride out his hot streaks, then bury him at the bottom of the lineup when he goes cold.

Look at his stats for this month

If you believe in the "hot" and "cold" stuff then you must also believe that there are methods to identify when a player is "hot" and "cold".

If you can't identify the pattern then it's random and JP is never really "hot" or "cold" it's just random varation.

However if "hot" and "cold" exist then there has to be a pattern. And maybe the other posters are just one level above you and they've identified the pattern.

So they know that even though J.P. is hitting .320 in July he is actually today entering a cold streak so they want him down in the order.

Or have you identified the pattern?? Do you have proof that J.P. will remain hot for the foreseeable future?? How do you identify when he goes cold??

I mean obviously if J.P. goes 3 for 40 then he's cold. But for the hot, cold pattern to be useful we need to identify it before J.P. goes 3 for 40 so we can hit him 9th for that time period.

You just wasted 5 minutes writing meaningless words.
The hate towards JP on this forum is crazy.
I know he doesn't walk much, strikes out alot, and has a low OBP, but he is hitting well right now.

Im predicting JP comes up with a big hit today.

JPA likes the ball down in the zone, so facing a sinker is pretty much ideal for him. He probably will have a big day.
