    • Will A's Fans Still Love The Team If They Move Out Of State?
  • To:All

I was just going through some of my threads and responding to a few of my friends on here when it dawned on me.
I just wrote that I will be a diehard A's fan until my dying day.

With that being said what would happen if our Oakland A's moved to another state?
Would you still wear the green and gold and root for the A's if say they were in Portland?

I honestly and openly can say on a public forum that I would totally support the A's no matter where they moved!!

I would rather rot in HE LL for eternity than root for those overrated, pathetic GNATS!

A'S FOREVER! EVEN IF THEY DO S UC K!!!!!!!!!!!

When I think of gophers I think of two things, "The Love Boat" and "Caddyshack!"

That "chick with a d i ck" Tim The Freak should retire as he will never get a contract extention with the Gnats but perhaps he can move to the San Fernando Valley and make some p o r n. All the weed the loser can smoke.

Probably smokes pole too since he works in SF.

I hate the Giants more than you will ever know.

I hate Journey now thanks to 2010.

Anyway it doesn't matter because in my old school mind Steve Perry ruined the band!

I love the first three Journey records before Perry joined!!!!

HARD SEVENTIES ROCK!!

Signed,

"LOOK INTO THE FUTURE"

Cheyenne, WY. , territorial rights owned by the Denver Rockies
Bismarck, N.D. , territorial rights owned by Minneapolis Twins
Tucson, AZ. , territorial rights owned by Phoenix Diamondbacks

Seems like all the best places are already spoken for...

It might depend on where they moved. If it was close, say Oregon or Nevada then maybe... If they ended up in Canada or the East coast for example, then I'd forget about em. It seems pointless to be a fan of a team you can't actually visit. It's part of the reason I'm so annoyed by fans of east coast teams around here. They're often just cheering for teams already winning. I guess I understand if they moved, but otherwise it's lame. I tend to root for teams that have to work for it, and are nearby.

Maybe thats true for you bh, but not for me. I live in louisville, ky & im a dallas cowboy(i know, everyone hates em) & oakland A fan. Never been to see a game at eithers home stadium though. These days, with options like mlb tv & sunday ticket, its easy to be a fan of a franchise of a team you may be hundreds of miles away from. Times have changed & its not like it used to be. Theres no unwritten rule that says you can only root for teams that are nearby, or close enough to attend their games.

If worst comes to worst & the A's do have to move, i just hope the ones that support them now, continue to support them. Why jump on some bandwagon just because they relocate, when its so easy to follow them these days? Its about ALL former A's, guys like mickey cochrane, jimmie foxx, eddie collins, lefty grove, vida blue, sal bando, reggie, catfish, carney lansford, etc....its not just about those that were "Oakland A's". Whatever happens, imo theyll never change our awesome team colors, logo, or name(A's). You dont just throw away great history & tradition, much like one should never just throw away fandom. Long live my beloved A's, no matter where they are, no matter their record, & no matter how many other ppl root for em or rag on em!

A'S FOREVER

It seems the A's are stuck in California! That's a good thing!!

The A's should just move into Raley Field!!!!!

AMEN!

I absolutely hate "Don't Stop Believing!" I thought it was cool at the end of the Sopranos saga but then the Gnats had to use it over and over and over again!

It makes me sick!!!!!

It figures! The Gnats get four at home against the Cubs. They sweep.
They get to go down to the Pads who are terrible and they take two out of three.
Then they finally get to play the Rangers, a real team and they get shut out twice.
Now they get three at home against the worthless Astros!!!

The Gnats have the weakest schedule every year!!!!!

Why would they move to another state and why wouldn't I still be a fan if they did? I'm loyal to my guys so yes I'll be rooting for them no matter where they are.

Why would the A's not move out of state if nothing here can get done?
If Lew can't get the SJ territory then what?
Do you really think he will sell the team to Clorox to keep them in Oakland?

No one cares about the A's in Major League Baseball. Bud and Lew are pals yet Selig could obviously care less about this franchise.

If the A's don't get something done in the next few years they will be contracted along with the Rays.

Baseball is so saturated with 30 clubs anyway.
Baseball will be better off with 28 teams.

Sadly the A's will be MLB's first victim of circumstance.

I don't think that saturation is the problem, I think salary discrepancy is. In football the highest team salary is around 1.7 times what the lowest team salary is. In basketball it's 2 times the lowest salary. In baseball it's closer to 4 times. Who wants to come watch a bunch of new rookies every year v.s. 1/4 of the all star team? (Besides a few twisted fools like myself.) It's a vicious circle, expensive team draws big stars and big crowds that allows them to buy an expensive team.

Having said that, the A's are very near the top of the list when it comes to cost effeciency, which is why I'd love for the team to have just a bit more $ to work with.

I care about the A's but I think you're right about no one in the MLB caring about them. If they did, they would have done something to fix all of their problems and we wouldn't be talking about them now.

Exactly. Too many years have already gone by. The A's would be in a brand new stadium right now if everything went the right way. Look at the Marlins! They have their new park!

I hate to sound like a pessimist even though I can do a good job about being one but I seriously don't see the A's getting a stadium in the Bay Area.

Considering I already live two states away and am still a die hard fan, I think I'd be just fine.

Honestly, anyone who has stayed faithful through these two decades of horror would probably be able to stick with them. Haha.

Hahahaha!!

Well said! I totally agree! It really doesn't matter where you live in the present, it's about falling in love with the past.

The A's are rich in history. I wonder if there are still any A's fans in Philly despite having quite a current successful franchise in the Now. Then again the Phillies are garbage right now.

I will admit openly that when the Raiders left for LA I was disgusted and heartbroken as a teen-ager.
I hated the L.A. Raiders and all of those sc um thugs down there. It was ugly despite their one lame Superbowl win down there.

Anyway, I will find it completely different within my heart if the A's move out of the Bay Area or out of state.

I will love them FOREVER. Then again if they ditch the green and gold I might just have to cut my losses.

I intend to retire in 40 years and my wife and I will move to San Diego so I will become a Padre fan and get season tickest.

At least the Pads have Petco Park which is one of the greatest parks in all of baseball. It rivals the Gnats park and to be quite honest I would rather hang out after a Pad game in the Gas Lamp District than that toilet bowl called San Francisco.

Maybe if the Warriors move to SF it will help make that dumpy wharf a better place.

Even though I'm an East Bay guy I'm all for a new Warriors Arena on Pier 32.

Too many "ifs" living here in this Bay Area.

When will things get built to ease a real fan's peace of mind?

I mean "PIECE OF MIND!!!!!!!"

Sinfully Yours,

IRON MAIDEN

"UP THE IRONS" MUTTHAAAAFUKKKKKAS!!!!!!! METAL LIVES!

I banged a girl once who dated Will Clark before me.
It was only one Act as when I banged this chick back in 199something she wore this f' n gild SF necklace.
It drove me nuts. Pun intended.

Anyway it was a toxic two weeks of my life.

Sadly it's a memory that sticks with me.

I am a diehard A's fan yet I put my you know what in the same hole where Will Clark's put his.

I can't believe I just wrote about this on a pubic, I mean public forum. LOL!

Life is short.

I will hate the Giants forever as I will that stupid chick.

We both worked at Safeway at the time and we both got off at midnight.
She invited me to her place so I went over.

She started to drink a lot and tried to show off.

This chick jumped up on the kitchen table to dance ins a hot tight skirt but she didn't realize the fan was on at full speed.
Her head when right into the wooden blade leaving a baseball sized welt on her forehead.

I couldn't believe my eyes. I was totally in shock.

Will Clark has no taste in women. Hey neither did I!!!

Get it? That's a past tense statement!!

I've been happily married for 16 years and Wendy and I have two incredible daughters who play year round soccer!!

Life is good!

I wish you all well.

GO A'S!!!!
