I heard this question on the radio the other day and I want to know why the people on this board still watch what is assuredly going to go down as the worst season in Astros, if not MLB, history?

Me, cause I still love my team. And I am willing to suffer in the bad times, cause that will make the good times much more sweeter.

I'll still watch.

One of the reasons why I love baseball is that you can follow individual performances even if the team is terrible. I don't care about the W/L record much, but I would like to see some of the younger guys perform well. It's been fun watching Altuve succeed this season.

I love sports and I love the Astros regardless of how they are playing.

Gratifying when we win, understood it's fewer and far between in this particular era. Losses are easier to stomach now that our payroll isn't bloated

Judging by the lack of Gameday threads, I think there are far less that can answer this question.

I don't really watch them much anymore because the future isn't on the field right now.

Because I have an addiction. I pretty much listen to every game on the radio when I'm not watching.

I watch to see how the young players are doing, and see who has a chance to contribute to the next winning Astros team. But I will admit that lately there are some nights where I don't watch the game, and simply check the box score the next day instead.

With how bad the Astros have been lately, I've been going to as many Corpus Christi Hooks games as I can. They've been a lot more exciting to watch than the big league team this year.

Truth be told, I stopped watching them ever since the Olympics started. I still keep up with them but I find the Olympics much more exciting... even if it is broadcasted 10 hours after the event ends...

Tarrou's answer mirrors my own: It's baseball and this is my team. These are tough days alright, but I've been through them before. We'll get there.

I just dont think this board is active enough for a game day thread, but so far a lot of us are still watching, just not forking out money to go see them in person.

That's obvious.

Yep. I almost always follow a game in some way (TV, radio, gameday), but I don't have much desire to go to the park anymore. It's a fairly long drive for me and it's kinda depressing when MMP is so empty.

Same here. Now when you can tell who the true fans are.

I like that the system is pushing talent up there. Last year it seemed like any prospect worth mentioning was south of AA.

Why do I still watch the Astros

Because I love the game and they are my team. I still make it to the park once a month because I need to hear the sounds of the game, the bat hitting the ball, the ball hitting the catchers mitt, the excitment of the crowd (although small), the smells of the park, all in all just the feeling of baseball. They'll be back in a few years and until then I will stick by them. Go Astros!

1. a few young players that interest me
2. kills time/better than most <crap that's on when I'm eating dinner
3. Brownie and J.D. are awesome
4. kind of silly, but I've watched or listened to every single game since May 27th, 2006 (barring the Cubs series during Hurricane Ike, which I don't count because they should have been postponed) and I don't want to break my "streak."

I pay to watch them. I have the game on every night. These extra innings games are getting on late though its tough to finish.
