This team is awful. How many rebuilding years/projects are we going to endure? Haven't competed since 2005, seven years. They get 1 or 2 potential All-Stars, put nothing around them, use them until they age, and the start rebuild mode again. They change coaches as a smoke screen, but still do not get or develop players. A new GM & owner, maybe a better rebuilding plan. Next year a new league thanks to dictator Selig. Last year a hundred lose season, this year on track for another one. Does anyone see a light at the end of the tunnel?

We have been rebuilding for awhile now, the process has never stopped. I think we are doing a great job of it with Luhnow directing us. The departure of Carlos Lee didn't signify any change of course or action on our part. It was just getting rid of dead weight.

RyGuy, This is what needs to be done? Fine. When do we see positive results of the 5 years of rebuilding they have been doing. Yea, that's what needs to be done. The competitive teams Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers they are always in a 5,6,7 year rebuild. Stop drinking the kool-aid.

I don't think you have the temperament to be an Astros fan at this junction of their history. You might be better served to look further up I-45N.

I find it funny to think that some astros fans thought rebuilding would be a 3-5 year process. Most fans expected the process to take 5-7 years, but they always have that few that expect fast results.

We've be rebuilding for only 2 years... And I'm sure Wandy, Myers and some relievers are gonna be on the way out. And as I've been reading, we have to be over whelmed for Lowrie... Which I don't blame us for asking so.

Today is the day I've been waiting for; Carlos Lee is history! NOW, let the REAL rebuilding begin! We're going young; so what? Most of the young players we've been using this year just aren't cutting the mustard! More dealing to come - I hope!! Stay thirsty, my friend!

I would think 4 to 5 years would be a realistic rebuilding period. We were severely hampered by Carlos Lee's SIX year deal! He bankrupted the franchise; thus, we had to part with Hunter Pence, Michael Bourn, etc.! BUT, the nightmare is coming to an end. Let the REAl rebuilding begin! Stay thirsty, my friend! (Can I say that?????) Yeah, baby!!

PS - I told my mom not to have that SON tattoo inked on her shoulder!!

The true rebuilding only starting in earnest last year when Drayton had the deal in-place to sell the team. He would never have allowed a full rebuild like this due to not wanting to risk cutting into his bottom line. Luhnow hasn't been on the job for a full year yet and he's had arguably the best draft in franchise history, continued to develop the minor leaguers we've had, stolen Lowrie from Boston, gotten something for nothing from KC and just now got solid prospects for the "untradeable" Carlos Lee. If you're honestly whining about what's going on right now you're either ignorant, impatient or both.

It's worth repeating once again. It is beyond extremely likely that no one on the present roster will still be here in three years.

Our current staff is representative of a mediocre AAA team, currently playing over their heads.

You can see the inexperience with the little things like base running and relay throws to the bases.

These current guys are merely care-takers; guys we put out there in MLB uniforms so as to avoid forfeit.

It's not their fault that they cannot compete; they try their best, but they just don't have it.

Right now, they are falling on the grenade to buy the farm system time to develop talent, experience and depth.

They are the equivalent of cannon-fodder, so I can't get mad at their ineptness and lack of talent.

It’s sad that they are in this position, but our farm system was non-existent, and what we are seeing now just had to be done.

Competitive teams like the Rangers? Before 2010 the Rangers did not make a playoff appearance for 10 years and in that time had three winning seasons. Just because they are good now, do not mistake them for a consistantly competitive team who did not go through what the Astros are going through now.

Stop complaining. Pirates fans have endured losing for 19 years. Your organization is doing what needs to be done the right way

"It is beyond extremely likely that no one on the present roster will still be here in three years."

So in other words, you're calling it a virtual certainty that Altuve will be off the roster by July of 2015?

While I agree the original poster is a doofus and is complaining about the team doing what's necessary, arguing that he shouldn't complain just because Pirates fans have had it worse isn't exactly a strong argument.

The first part is true. The second is your typical hate Drayton bull sh--. If he were younger he would be doing the same thing we are doing now.Rebuilding.
