Oh well. Two more years with a boring third baseman.

How underwhelming. :(

What if Cowart fizzles or gets injured? There is no other 3B prospect behind him.

This is called, "planning ahead."

As is often the case, the voice of ignorance is also the loudest.

>>So much for Caleb Cowart taking over at 3B.<<

Why is that? It's just a two year contract - one year to buy out his 2013 arbitration and another to keep him here in 2014. Did people think Cowart was on some sort of express track that would get him here much before 2015?

What if, what if.....................

I think the signing makes sense. Pretty good deal, IMO. Callaspo has lots of upside, IF FRICKIN SCOSCIA LETS HIM PLAY REGULARLY!!!!!! *#+!%?*!!!!!

I prefer a power hitting third baseman over a umpa lumpa anytime. 112 RBI's and 16 HRS in three seasons doesn't get the job done for me.

This is a good move that gives the Angels a 3rd baseman for 2 years and also allows them at any time to upgrade at that spot if they come across a better option via trade, free agency or from the minors. He could always play a back up role if they made a change a 3rd.

I sure hope not. I figure 2015 at the earliest if at all.

"112 RBI's and 16 HRS in three seasons doesn't get the job done for me."

So you'd rather have a Mark Reynolds because he hits home runs and does absolutely nothing else?

Congratulations on not understanding baseball.

"So much for Caleb Cowart taking over at 3B."

Why? Cowart just finished 2012 in high A ball and wasn't extraordinary or anything. I assume the plan is AA in 2013 and AAA in 2014. Not everyone is Mike Trout.

Other organizations that realize Callaspo's worth would have probably given him 3-4 years at this outstanding value. There's a reason the Angels only gave him 2.

Maybe some fans think we should have all-stars at every position.

Actual All-Stars or should have been all stars at Short, Second, LF, RF, 1b and DH.

That leaves Iannetta, Boujors (seems like everyone's favorite) and Callaspo.

And it's the same fans that like Vargas as a #3 for us. Amazing huh.

You got me there... That's a good point.

If Vargas is a five I'll be happy. If Blanton pitches like a five, I wont be.

"You got me there... That's a good point."

I think you misinterpreted me. It wasn't meant as a comeback, just an agreement in a way.

What I meant was - the same fans that are unhappy with Callaspo at 3rd and think he's a bad player are the same dumb fans that think Vargas will be a good #3 for this team and is a solid pitcher because he pitched to a sub-4.00 ERA last year.

Blanton has pitched like a five for a few years now. He's getting older not younger and coming to a dh league its not going to change.
