I'm a MS supporter and have been since he was hired to be the Angels skipper; but todays game is starting to make me wonder if Mikes shelf life as an angels coach is starting to expire.
Obviously Greinke didn't have it today but he battled and got better as the game went on and kept us in the game at least.
The offense obviously did their job today. So what they heck happened?
Bullpen mismanagement by Scoscia.
Our offense had just got us back in the game, so our pitching needs a shutdown inning. Having the bullpen give back a run or two obviously isn't preferred, but anything but a complete disaster inning is what we need from our bullpen, and what happens, a complete letdown by Hawkins which Scoscia let happen.
Hawkins is having a decent year for us, so I wasn't mad when I saw him come in for Greinke in the 6th. But he clearly didn't have his stuff today. After a couple walks and hits, Scoscia should have pulled him to avoid what exactly happened. Instead he left him in their and only pulled him after the damage was already done. Hawkins ended up walking two, gave up 3 hits, and 5 runs and basically caused a heavy burden on the offense to once again climb back into the game.
Not managing the bullpen correctly is what caused us to lose this game today, and that is nobody's fault but Mike Scoscia's.
