patient manager in all of baseball? How does one watch Latroy Hawkins walk the first batter, give up the tying run, then 2 more runs score and you still like his stuff, only to give up 2 more runs. With the day off tomorrow you could go through the bullpen well before 5 runs score. I just don't recall other managers waiting so long in a close game to remove their ineffectice pitcher. I am well aware of the problems the pen has had lately, after Hawkins the pen held off the A's. This whole year is frustrating, If the Angel's don't get to the playoffs, no way does Trout be considered for MVP. What a shame.

Your absolutly WRONG about Trout , MVP and playoffs. The MVP is an individual award not a team effort so Trout could easily win MVP and or rookie of the year without going to the playoffs.

TJ, I was just looking at the MVP in the NL last year. Matt Kemp had the best year of any player in MLB, but Ryan Braun was MVP because the Brewers won their division. If what you say is an absolute, Matt Kemp should have been the MVP.

Patience is a nice sounding adjective but that implies a higher understanding which is laughable when it comes to Scioscia. Sure he was swell with a bunch of scrappy cast offs mixed in with a few legit stars in 2002, but he does not fit the style of team that the Angels are NOW, and it shows more and more every year. 6 games over with a probable Cy, MVP, ROY and a roster any team would love to have? It's outrageous. Hatcher is booted - look at the offense now. The rest is the same - and awful, the constants are Scioscia and Butcher, not that hard to figure out - the only question is how long it will take Arte to do something about his $$$ being flushed down the drain for a third straight year.

I agree with you on losing teams not generally having a player winning the M.V.P.. I can't figure out which is worse for the team, the managers screwy decisions, or the bullpen that is not working.
I do wish the fans would quit putting too much pressure on Trout by chanting M.V.P. whenever he comes to bat. Yes, he is good, but he may not be able to maintain his production if you keep it up. That is just too much pressure for someone his age. Do it at the end of September after he's had some time up here. Cut him some slack so he doesn't burnout from trying too hard to prove it to you.

Scioscia is lucky to have Mike Trout fall onto his team.

If it wasn't for Mike Trout, the Angels would be a .500 team no question

I am in total agreement with you on the MVP chants. Let the kid play without the additional pressure. The game is hard enough to play as it is.

How about a made up word like "worstest manager in the majors"? Let's look back on just this year. He does doesn't bring up Trout until forced too by Depoto, oh and the Angels were 6 and 14 when that happened. He refused to start Trumbo on a regular basis or give him a regular position, LF, RF, 3B, 1B and DH all in April unbelievable and early August he has 29 HR and was hitting over .300 and made the All Star team. What would he have done if allowed to have a regular position and place in the batting order. Same with Trout 20 HR leads league in runs scored and stolen bases, just image another month with him in the lead off spot. And what about not pinch running for Morales, that cost us a game vs Texas, totally inexcusable. And Butcher has to go, how can you screw up this starting line up, they should be the best in baseball. This should be a dream team, instead Scioscia and his band incompetent want to be coaches have turn it into a nightmare year and now we are behind Oakland are you kidding me!

One World Series appearance and one championship in 50 years is hardly anything to brag about. And no WS appearances since '02 is a disgrace, what with the Angels' payroll and some of the teams they've had. On paper, going in this season, the Angels had the best looking team I've seen this century - maybe in team history. And that was w/o Trout. With Trout it should be a cakewalk. I know the season is far from over, but something ain't gelling.

How do you know he doesn't feed off of the chants and get fired up to do even better? I bet if you asked him he'd say he enjoys the chanting.
