Def Dipoto is inquiring. Im guessing it starts with Segura and ends with Segura. plus a minor league arm or Santana.

Headley is a perfect fit, IMO.

Angels could afford to trade Segura because of middle infield depth...you might be right.

Maybe your right. Maybe they are thinking next year as well... Segura or someone like him (close to the majors) plus a starter who has won 17 in the league may make them better next year without Headley. I think they are both interesting scenario's. Santana could make them better and I think his time here is done. Richards and Williams should round out the starting rotation nicely.

If your the Padres who are you going to want. Santana with 1.5 years of control left with about $20M still on the books. Or Richards and 5.5 years of control left and very cheap over the next 3 or 4 years.

No on Calhoun. How about Segura and (Conger or Bobby Wilson)?

You're probably right, although I'd hate to lose either of them never mind both. I don't think I would go any more though.... and greed makes me want something additional in return, like another Frieri.

I wouldn't go that far - Headley's away numbers look reasonable - of course, it can be difficult to really get a read on NL West players with such extreme parks - San Diego, San Francisco, and Los Angeles being pitchers parks and Coors being an extreme hitter's park.

But I agree that he'd probably cost us too much right now - our farm system is pretty dry, Richards must be untouchable (otherwise, we have no depth at all), and Segura, while he's got appeal, probably won't get it done by himself.

Headley makes 3.4M, Izzy 3.9M, Callaspo 3.1M so they are close Money wise. San Diego would want one of the Angels top 15 prospects and maybe Callaspo if they don't have a replacement for Headley within their organization. Can Segura put up Headley type offensive numbers?

I think the Angels would have to have another team interested in either Izzy or Callaspo before they trade for another third baseman.
