assuming Valencia performs awesomely the rest of the way this season and does well next season, what do you do with Plouffe for this season and next? Put him at 2B?

I say we sign Danny for about 4 years / 80 million and convert Plouffe into a long reliever. I assume both would perform awesomely.

well, it won't happen...but if it does, you keep Plouffe at 3B and trade Valencia if anyone wants him

I'd put plouffe in at shortstop for dozier

Have you seen plouffe at shortstop? He can't play the position. He can play third base because he has time to set and make the throw. Also once he got at third base he started hitting. I wouldn't mess with it especially for a spot that he's demonstrated is putting him in position to fail

Should have traded Willingham when we had the chance. Could have gotten at least a B+ pitching prospect in return.

How does this relate you scream? If Valencia goes on a tear, you put him at 3B, Plouffe in RF and Revere in LF while Span stays in CF. If you must, you have Mastroianni to spell someone. And if you *really* must, there's always Chris Parmalee batting .346 with 9HR in 36 games in AAA.

When Willingham is hitting .260 with 10 HR by the break next year... it will be sad.

Rumor is that Escobar has a chance to make the roster next year. If he does he'll play short and Dozier will move to 2B. With Dozier it may be a range issue for the movement.

Plouffe is last resort for SS.

Plouffe from what I remember was god awful at short. Although his range and arm aren't bad, he needs time to throw otherwise he throws it 5 feet over or 5 feet to the left of Morneau.

I still think Valencia can bounce back and be a productive player, as unpopular as that opinion is. I think the whole Minor League assignment has humbled him and he actually feels the need to perform now.

Plouffe wasn't very consistent at SS...I don't know about Valencia...time will tell if he has changed for the better.

No, shouldn't have and didn't trade Willingham. Should of traded Puckett when he had some value.

"Should of traded Puckett when he had some value."

Blasphemy!!!

Ha! Totally different situation. When Puckett had value, the Twins were winning the division. Even in 1986, when they won 71 games, Puckett was all of 25 years old! Then they won the World Series in 1987 AND 1991. Willingham is 34 and the Twins are not even 71 games good.

Willingham is on a team who has been bad the last two years and he is 34 years old and the Twins desperately "need young starting pitching" (the words of a sports analyst I quoted from MLBTR weeks ago, not mine). The situation, or context if you will, is the most of the reason it made sense to trade Willingham.

Just sayin... you cannot make that comparison. Totally different situation.

Pffft on those analysts. Most don't know squat. Willingham trade talk is dead.

So you think we don't need young arms?

For Christ sakes get it through your thick skull, not at Willinghams expense. Are you retarted?

Trading Willingham would be idiotic. Down right stupid. Again, the value the Twins would receive in return by trading Willingham would NOT...I repeat would NOT be worth the trade.

You all complain about the Twins' GMs giving players away in trades and getting nothing in return. Just think about it for ONE minute...the Twins getting prospects for Willingham. This is a total joke.

A bonafide productive ML player with the contract he has is worth more to the Twins on the 25 man roster than a bunch of prospects who many of them won't have much of a ML career...if they have one at all.

BTW Willingham has 17 of his 27 HRs hit at Target Field this season...I also do not think he'll have any trouble hitting mid 20's in HRs for the final two years of his contract with the Twins. Maybe even 20 HRs each year at Target Field.

I see your point, I just disagree with it. I certainly don't think it would be "idiotic". I think I've made these points over and over so I don't see any reason to repeat it. Just sayin, it would kinda resolve the "If Valencia goes on a tear..." problem. Kinda.

Valencia going on a tear is similiar to Casilla going on a tear.......do you trust it in the longterm. If Valencia does well then he is the type of player the Twins should trade for prospects.

Even if Valencia does well, I don't think you're really gonna get much for him. I wouldn't trust him in the long term either, haha
