Morneau was placed on the paternity list today. He'll be away 3 days for the birth of his second child.

Chris Parmelee is called up to take the roster spot.

Will he be named after a hockey player or a baseball player?

Baby's name Martin Morneau, will go by Marty...I'm guessing Justin named him in honour of Martin Brodeur?!?!

I thought it would have been Patrick after Patrick Roy...

It seems that I remember that Roy was his favorite hockey players....hence the 33.

Could be a family name too, I don't know.
Maybe they liked the flow of Marty Morneau =)
I like the way name flows -lol

I would bet the flow...but Krista's maiden name is Martin.

Martin could also be a reference to Martin St. Louis, who plays in the NHL.

Anyways, Martin derives from the old Latin / Roman name of Martinus, a reference to the Roman god Mars.

When I looked for additional online info, I found reference to a 4th century St. Martin in Tours France, who is also the patron saint of France. St. Martin was the inspiration for so many people naming their sons after him.

There is also the Theologian Martin Luther, the leader of the Protestant Reformation.

I'm guessing also that it's in tribute to Martin Brodeur. Morneau was a goalie and idolizes Brodeur, too.

Come on, guys, it's clearly a tribute to the 90s TV show. His first word will be GINA!!

All kidding aside, congrats to the morneaus.

Hey Jack!
is it? I think George is also Justin's middle name. I'm pretty sure Justin's full name is Justin Ernest George

hope you're doing well =)

I find it ironic that Morneau has the middle name of George, since Morneau is a French Canadian, and the French Canadians used to be arch enemies of the English.
