Definitely. We can't hit lefties. He can't possibly do worse, could he?

Jackson
Infante
Cabrera
Fielder
Peralta
Castellanos
Baker
Avila
Dirks

I'd love to see this lineup for a week or so.

No Boesch or Young for awhile.

That sounds good but id like to see Berry in there for a week just to see if he has been "figured" out like some have said,I myself think he has gotten off his game from sitting so much..I am not saying take Dirks out no way Dirks is way better..

He WILL be a September call up, but that's because we have two choices. Call up, or he goes home.

Your spot on it is not because they have figured him out it is because he hardly plays. No player can stay in a groove playing twice a week at best. People saying they have figured him out is ridiculous and it even sounds stupid. Let him play and I bet he finds a way to contribute. Angels manager said Berry gave the Tigers an element they did not have in a long time well guess mgmt decided we would remove that advantage and go back to just trying to win games with the long ball. I would have pinch ran him for Cabrera and rolled the dice could the outcome have been worse? Cabby would not have batted for several innings. Berry would have scored heck Cabrera might have did you see how far up the line that throw ended up. Anyway whatever

Yep the word "stupid" came to mind when I heard them say they figured him out..
I love it how he is the new scape goat when he goes 0 for 4 or something but when Prince or Miggy does it well that's baseball..
As far as I am concerned he needs to be in the lineup everyday and SEE if he proves the haters wrong..BTW I called them haters before and then I said it was to harsh, well now I am not calling it harsh because they have proven it.

Last nights game was dead,no one showed any life,I bet Berry would have..

Agreed and yes haters is the correct word because when he played every day and did well those same people were just quiet about him or said just wait it will not last. Like they could not wait for him to fail so they could say I told ya so. Yes Dirks needs to be in there but that does not mean Berry can't as well. Darvish is a righty and Berry should be in there today. Here is my opinion for todays lineup

Jacson CF
Berry LF
Cabrera 3B
Fielder 1B
Boesch DH
Peralta SS
Dirks RF
Avila C
Infante 2B

I know Dirks has only played right field 6 times but that is my take. Order does not need to be exact but that is who should be starting today in my opinion. I have a feeling Santiago may play over Peralta and I do not like that.

If Nick C is called up, someone would have to be removed from the 40 man roster (easily done). At most, he would start against lefty pitching and perhaps as a pinch hitter.

I don't see him coming up in September. Another guy who may be better prepared to come up instead of Nick C is Ben Guez, but his call up would also require that someone will have to be removed from the 40 man roster.

There's a case that Leyland isn't making a horrible mistake by platooning Bosch and DYoung at the 5-spot: Both have more power than the alternatives, and it takes a lot of power to get Prince Fielder home from first (or second, for that matter). Batting a singles hitter fifth means you'll need the next hitter to get it done.

Still, he's not quite right. Assuming JICF for first 4 in the order, Dirks needs to hit fifth against right-handers the way he's going; he's sustained his OPS vs. right-handers long enough that he more than makes up for Young and Bosch's better power. And since Fielder doesn't always reach base anyway, Dirks is a more reliable bat than either Young or Bosch for getting the other guys home. Also, the R-L splits say that even though QB has cooled off, he's still a valuable down-the-lineup hitter vs. right-handers.

The good news is the Tigs face lots more right-handers and can be depended on to beat them pretty regularly. The bad news is this lineup is pretty hopeless vs. lefties. Even Cabrera has only two homers off LHP. And DYoung is by far the best option at 5 (and arguably at 4). Only Miggy and AJax are securely ahead of him (Omar, too, technically, but I think he helps the team more by facing fastballs in front of Cabrera and Fielder).

So: Vs. RHP

Jackson-Infante-Cabrera-Fielder-Dirks-Avila-Bosch-Peralta-Berry

vs. LHP

Jackson-Infante-Cabrera-Fielder-Young-Baker-Peralta-Laird-best available matchup, and prayer.
