    • Is Rusty Kuntz a possible replacement for Ned Yost ?

I saw they brought Rusty Kuntz up as a coach with the Royals, at the request of Dayton Moore. I think after seeing this guy in an interview today, not only was he very happy to be here of course, he has worked with development of our young team.

Is is only a feeling or suggestion, yet I think this may be a possible replacement for Ned Yost.

I like his enthusiasm, and they say the players like the guy.

This may not be true at all regarding a change in the manager position, yet I see where Yost has failed to take this team to the next level. They should of been doing much better this season, and not in last place again.

Kuntz reminds me somewhat of Whitey Hertzog, and this team needs a jolt of someone with a little vigor.

Yost has slid into that lazy manager routine. He sets down guys who are starting to get hot, or hit, like Eric Hosmer. Eric has struggled all year, with no help. He has sat Getz down also when he has been hitting. The excuses are, " well they need a rest, or some other lame excuse. The one guy who actually may of needed rest was Alex Gordon, who has played alot of ball all through these hot July days, as have many of the regulars.

Yost knows how to manage losers, he is content with it, someone has to get these kids off this same old just below par baseball playing, and learn to play to win.

Look at Texas, a championship calibur team, well developed strong, and a marvel to watch. I want to beat anyone who comes to our ballpark, yet our kids get intimidated. Instilling confidence should be a managers number one priority with a very young team. Without confidence, one gets used to losing.

I would like to know what thoughts people have out there about changing managers, why all of a sudden has Kuntz been brought up here. It has to be in the mind of upper management.

My apologies. You asked if he was a "possible" replacement for Yost. The answer is yes. Other candidates: Slugger, Play Ball Kid, and the beer vendor guy in section 433.

"He sets (sic) down guys who are starting to get hot, or hit, like Eric Hosmer."

Followed shortly by:

"The one guy who actually may of (sic) needed rest was Alex Gordon, who has played alot of ball all through these hot July days, as have many of the regulars."

FYI, Susan. Gordon hit .342 in July. How long should he "of" "set" down?

As for Kuntz as a "possible" replacement for Yost, yes anything is "possible." But when was the last time the Royals elevated a member of the major league coaching staff to manager?

The answer is yes. On an interim basis for the remainder of the season.

Then the answer is no on a permanent basis.

And quite honestly.....................I believe that is why he is here now.

Please let this be true....can we also get an interim GM ready?

I don't think an interim GM is going to happen. But an interim Manager is very close in my opinion.

But I do think that the heat has been dialed up on Moore and that his job is not nearly as safe or assured as many..............most.............want to believe.

Glass has made 3 trips to Kansas City in the past 4 days. There is a reason for that. And you have seen some of it already with Sisson/Kuntz and Betancourt.

It ain't gonna stop there.

If things don't change..........when the Royals come home from the Chicago/Baltimore road trip I am somewhat confident you will see some new faces. And quite possibly both on the field and in the offices.

I saw the 5 run inning at work and was going to call it a year but now I can't.

I didn't see the game but I think I read that Frenchkiss misplayed two balls in a nightmare inning...isn't his defense why we have kept him?

I sense through some conversations with some people who know far more than I do........that some fairly significant changes are on the horizon. Possibly no matter what. But certainly if play doesn't improve dramatically.

Now would not be a good time to call it a year arknatfan.

...............:)

"I didn't see the game but I think I read that Frenchkiss misplayed two balls in a nightmare inning...isn't his defense why we have kept him?"

I think he only misplayed one. And the reason we are keeping him is that Dayton loves him so much that he signed him to a contract this past season that virtually makes him untradeable. Unless we eat all of the contract. And maybe not even then.

I wouldn't think. Francoeur's defense is mediocre at best. He just has a rocket launcher for an arm which sometimes makes him look a little better than he really is.

Are you suggesting Yost will be let go? That would surprise me but not shock me. Now if DM is canned before the end of the year...that would shock me. If Glass has been spending more time in KC as you say, that would suggest he's fed up and wants to shake things up. Glass is a fan same as us, he see's what we see, he see's baserunning continually taking us out of innings, he' see's Yuni's ineptness, he's probably about had it. I would imagine it's a tense time around One Royal way these days.

You would hope that Glass interacts with some of the other owners who are probably telling him what an awful job Yost and Moore are doing....so at least if he doesn't understand it with his own two eyes maybe he has people he trusts who are telling him.

Yes. I think Yost is a lame duck. I think he might very well not make it back from the road trip..........unless something dramatic occurs. That is why Kuntz is here........to take over as interim.

If they start winning.........I don't know. But even if they do........a change may still be made before the season is over............or shortly after.

At least some pretty reliable sources are telling me that is the feeling they are getting. No one knows for sure.........and these guys aren't infallable with their information. But over the years...........they have been very accurate.

As for Moore.......no..........no one is saying that he will be fired during the season. But......again...........unless we see some pretty dramatic improvement for the rest of this season..........then it is very possible after the season. And certainly if things don't change by mid way next season.

The word is that David Glass is fed up and is on a rampage. And in my opinion........rightfully so.

At least that is the impression they are getting. But take it for what it is worth. There may be nothing at all to it. But I trust them. Or I wouldn't put it out there.

Generally what you get here is the dreaded vote of confidence for Yost and Moore from Glass............and then shortly thereafter...........all he!! breaks lose. I am expecting that statement from Glass almost any day now.

Please remember...........I have always been a supporter of Yost. Not so of Moore. Rightly or wrongly. I don't necessarily agree or want to see it happen in Yost's case. But I think it is inevitable........and soon. And like I try to do in Spring Training............I'm just reporting what I am hearing......................BUT I AM NOT ALWAYS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything is not peachy creamy at 1 Royals Way. Not with the players. Not with the Management. And not with the Executives.

And the changes of the past couple of days leaves no doubt that there is unrest and something is going on out there.

Just wanted to add that question because any significant stays in KC by certain people will lead to rumors of larger moves. Although the buyers showing up in Arkansas would be more unusual, yet less noticeable. The most plausible scenario if higher business were involved would involve clearing out some driftwood and other loose ends before closing the deal.

But we're on 2 down in 2 days. Presumably there'll be a break over the next 7 days as they play 7 on the road and they're off on the 13th. Unless something big happens before then.

And the last time Dan and David essentially ran the club directly, it involved acquiring Neifi Perez instead of Vernon Wells for Jermaine Dye, and other less than skillful moves. So hopefully they're a bit smarter.

I'd heard that the length of the Sanchez tenure suggests that he was kept around a bit longer due to the Glasses, then i'd guess they sanctioned dropping Sanchez only to get a major league starter in return, which they somehow got and Sanchez lasted 3 starts in COL before a DL stint.

Good.

I hope your sources are correct.

Not that it will make a bit of difference. They could tear down the entire organization and start rebuilding and it will mean...nothing.

Nothing...

Either MLB has to forcibly remove Glass as the owner, or the team needs to be contracted. Until one of those things happens the rinse and repeat holding pattern this team has been in for nearly three decades will simply continue.

I have never seen a more hopeless and hapless professional sports organization in my lifetime.
