The Pirates have asked about tons of hitters, including Billy Butler, but they’re still in a “buy-low frame of mind.” The Royals have told clubs they’d have to be overwhelmed to part with Butler, Stark reports.

If that's what the Royals said.....awesome.

"If that's what the Royals said.....awesome."

But that could also be a pretty good indication that Billy is about to become a Pirate.

Unless they traded for Verlander or Strasburd, moving Butler to another team would be a PR nightmare for the Royals. Heck, even trading for one of those two would probably still be a nightmare.

precisely

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be over excited about loosing Butler. He is great.
But at least the Royals are saying it's going to take a lot.

That's what I like.

Since DM became GM, he has openly shopped Butler.

Lets hope Dayton Moores defination of overwhelmed includes
Tallion or Cole.

Nah. 'Overwhelmed' in Dayton's mind means getting Neil Walker and Jason Grili.

I really like Cole......I think the kid has a good future.

Plus it helped with the way he interacted with fans at the All Star Futures events...

Good kid.

Moore could be overwhelmed by a popcorn fart... History has shown that you can not trust him to know good from bad...

Call me crazy, but if the Pirates came at me with Tallion, Cole, etc.... I would have to think about it

Would losing 100 games once again be any less of a nightmare than trading Butler? If Butler is what it would take to land a legitimate middle of rotation starter, who the Royals would control through at least 2013, you gotta take a long, long look at it.

2014 doesn't really matter, if you are Less. If Less doesn't do something substantial on the field for 2013, he will be gone in 2014.

If this teams is struggling out of the gates next season by mid May he
could be gone.

I don't think any of us have to lose any sleep worrying about BB being traded to the Pirates. Short of Pittsburgh giving up one of their prized young pitchers and probably another player(s) off their ML roster, this deal doesnt stand a chance. jmo.

Please don't trade Butler for just prospects!

Jameson Taillon, Starling Marte, and Kevin Correia for Butler and a prospect

The Star is reporting that the Pirates are offering AAA left-handed starter, Justin Wilson. Wilson is 7-4 with a 4.25 ERA.

That's it? That's all Billy Butler is worth to the Pirates? Sad

It also said in the article that other teams are frustrated with the low-ball offers by the Pirates. But yeah, I would not do that deal at all.

The name of this thread is "Pirates interested in Butler"...if they are only offering Justin Wilson then all I can say is...no they're not. It seems they are interested in insulting DM and BB. It seems they are interested in wasting time. If DM doesnt land either James Taillon or Gerrit Cole, this deal wont happen. Wilson for Butler is a joke. If i'm DM I would be hesitant to take Huntingtons phone calls.
