Somebody please explain to me why take Pomeranz out? In the old days pitchers went compele games. Under our current circumstances why not give Pommy a chance to go the distance and see what he can do? As far as Tyco, Colvin ( I think we should start calling him that) , how do you justify ever sitting him down now? He should be our next first baseman starting soon. Or if you can get some team to bite on Cuddy put him in RF.

I have this really terrible feeling and I hope it is wrong, but I'll lay odds that Colvin is gone before the trade deadline.

Dont' even say that. If that happens I may have to tune out for the rest of the season. Scutts, Cuddy, who I like but I think was a stupid deal they can go. Not Tyco. It was the only good deal Dan made.

The problem is, right now he is the team's only marketable asset. Cargo is probably untouchable and the market for Tulo is probably a bit soft. The guy is a major talent, but he has an annoying proclivity for being incapable of making it through a season. There is 0 market for Helton and frankly, I don't see another player on this team that any contender out there is going to be interested in. But Colvin is attracting attention.

I wouldn't be surprised if a team that is in contention wouldn't make a play for Matt Belisle. As far as Colvin, he has a hot bat and it would be crazy for them to trade him.......so he is probably gone. I am surprised they haven't brought Blackmon back. He played very good last year before he was hurt and was one of the few bright spots during the season. I remember him getting several timely key hits when nobody else could hit diddly.

Fair enough but to what end? I know we need pitching but we also need a first baseman. Cuddy was a stupid deal in my humble opinion. Paid way too much for him. If he goes we also need a right fielder. Tyco can play rf or 1b. Why not keep him? Pomeranz is figuring it out and White may too by next season. If Del la Rosa comes back we're in pretty good shape. Still need a third baseman and obvioulsy it's not Pacheco but still crazy to trade Colvin. I seriously hope you are wrong on this.

Colvin's ability to play a few positions is one of his principle attractions. Just attempting to look at this from a perspective inside the organization, I would have to think that they are figuring they are going to give Helton one more year, so they really don't need to address the first base situation from a full time perspective immediately. The team has bats, they need pitching prospects. Right now, they don't really have much to dangle out there, and if I am a G.M. for the Nationals or Yankees or Red Sox, Colvin is about the only player on this team that interests me, assuming that any sort of deal for Cargo is unlikely. And given O'Dowd's history, I have to be pretty confident I can fleece him with a couple of pitchers that are never going to get west of Tulsa.

If the current regime is still in place I don't see that anything would change much. Remember, it's all built on hope. They'll just hope that everyone can benefit from this year's struggles. Of course, O'Fraud is highly susceptible to wild hairs. Ugh

It is always difficult to predict what this organization is going to do...imagining the worst has rarely made one far off. :D But I can almost guarantee that if the phone rings in Dan O'Dowd's office 10 times tomorrow, Colvin is going to be the focus of 9 of those calls.

I hope they don't trade him, wouldnt surprise me if they did though he has been tearing it up. And the only reason I picked him for my team this week was because he was cheap, now I can't get rid of him.

And Pomeranz had a stellar game, was unfortunate to see him pulled.

According to Jack Corrigan on the pre game none of the young guys will likely get traded.
