    • Thoughts on K Morales?

So, according to Ken Rosenthal:

The Angels were not in on Youkilis but remain on the lookout for bullpen help, specifically a left-on-left reliever who would be an upgrade over Hisanori Takahashi. They're also looking for Triple-A starting pitching depth.

According to me, the Angels have a guy named Kendrys Morales who is underutilized, and really extraneous to that team, which is loaded with hitting, who played all-star caliber 1b until his injury and is a breakout candidate waiting to happen.

Would people here go for a deal of one of our AAA starters (like Locke) and a lefty reliever for Morales? I would. I'm not saying the Angels would agree or that "he could be had for peanuts." I'm just saying that sounds like it would actually make sense, be doable, and benefit both teams.

Thoughts?

I just read all that on mlbtraderumors. Seems like a perfect fit. But who would the left reliever be?

I don't know, I'm not smart enough to figure that out. I know we'd have to give from our strength, but it doesn't sound like we'd have to give up a Grilli or Hanny (yes I know they're not lefties I'm just saying it seems doable)

I admit it btw, I've got a weird infatuation for Morales. Even though he's not getting sufficient playing time and therefore being mediocre, I can't cut him from my fantasy baseball team. I just can't. I believe in him. I don't know why though...

There is really nobody down on the farm the Angels would want as a lefty reliever. I'm not sure Neal would want to include Watson with one of the three lefties at Indianapolis. If you were to throw in Watson, that brings Moskos into the picture.

But if the potential is there to swing a deal for Morales, I say go for it. He is one of those players with years of control that Neal loves.

Watson has been outstanding coming out of the pen and should remain untouchable . An exception might be if they could trade for a proven bat but even then it needs to be an outstanding player .

Agreed. I feel Watson won't be a part of any package for anybody at this point.

I would deal Watson for Morales in a heartbeat.

Let Slaten take over Watson's role and bring up Moskos, Reyes, or Wilson to fill the 2nd lefty role in the pen.

Would not think twice.

You don't want a left handed relief pitcher who can't get left handed hitters out?

Or an injured one. Or demote a starter. Or kick the can.

I am looking at their roster and Morales is their only left-handed power bat. Pujols, Trumbo, Trout, Hunter are all righties. It would make sense to include Garrett Jones in the deal. The Angels have asked about him in the past, but were offering non-prospect minor leaguers for Jones. Backup 1B, RF, and part-time DH would seem to be a perfect role for Jones. But, I do not know who the lefty reliever would be.
