Pads played the Giants and Reds tough. They were in every game. Those teams are just a bit better right now.

In the off season, Pads need to get a front line starter and fix the bullpen. Get a power hitting right fielder and a better offensive shortstop. And of course get healthy and stay healthy. They should be at least a wildcard contender next season.

To me the proof's in the pudding. If we had Bass & Luebke pitching in those series instead if Erlls and Ohlendorf, we win both those series...Black knows it.... the team knows it...Byrnes knows it. Heck, Dusty Baker probably knows it.

So, I didn't stress about losing those series, because the losses are easy to explain. Im lookin forward to what the rotation looks like coming out of Spring Traning next year.

And by the way, Grandal getting injured definitely affected the outcome of that Cincy series ....thats how important he is going forward.

but dont you think that losing Bass/Luebke took A LOT away from this team?....yea, we've been very inconsistent offensively, but when Amarista/Grandal/Alonso/Headley really started rolling, that aspect of the team opened some eyes, as to what could be.

Pitching, really fell flat...and I dont even have the time to talk bad about the bullpen.

for sure. and don't forget Stauffer and Weiland and Cashner. Even if half of our pitchers that are injured return to form, we have too many starters going forward...a good problem to have. Trade some in the off season for a quality RF bat.

Yes we would be better with Leubke and Bass over Ohlendorf an Wells
Yes Amarista Grandal et al provided some offensive spark
We were winning games a couple of weeks ago against Houston and Colorado and an inconsistent AZ and some fans had us challenging for the division down the stretch

It will be very interesting to see how the young guys do this last two months... the upcoming schedule isn't very easy with a lot of games against better teams like the Braves Pirates giants Dodgers AZ Cards - I think we may learn a little more about what we have in the young position players during these final two months....

Yeah, these fill in starters are killing us right now. They are playing good baseball otherwise.

If we can at least get Bass or Stauffer and Cash back I think we are a solid squad for the remainder of the season. I am actually ok with/somewhat impressed with Marquis. Kip "HR" Wells and Olhendorf need to go.

I also don't understand why those two are starting and Stults is in the bullpen...Stults is easlily a better option in the rotation then either, and we could get rid of one of them...I say Wells first!

Bass is on the 60 DL, until the end of August and Cashamn isn't throwing yet.

All these guys are nothing more than depth including Stults. We need to get some real starters back ASAP.

No doubt injury has hurt this team... that goes without question.. Yet, there are some serious issues both in the rotation, pen and getting a serious power bat..

I also think next season will be a lot better yet still not WS caliber baseball with the roster we have now. 500+ ball maybe.

All roads point to new ownership and can't wait for the press conference... Then i would imagine a slow methodical house cleaning thru the entire FO organization. One which will be needed post Moorad and frankly really needed. I am talking from A-ball thru the front office.
