It's about time! I'm pretty shocked that the Padres actually did that, though. Hopefully that'll wake his @$$ up and start hitting.

I'm 100% surprised. I like Hundley, but he was struggling, and he has to get back to where he usually is. Good luck to him, meanwhile we have Baker, who has been hitting better, and Grandal, a beast.
Hundley never was a minor league hitter like Grandal is.
In 2013 I like the prospect of a Grandal/Hundley duo.

WOW! I didn't realize that Josh was watching my postings so closely. I guess I'll have to post more often. lol

Great move Josh!

I'm 20 percent surprise only because if Grandal isn't starting full time he should be in the minors. Maybe they want to keep his confidence up hitting at Coors before he enters the black hole known as Petco?

This is a golden opportunity for Yasmani Grandal....I hope he realizes it. If he simply catches and calls a good game and hits .260+ they will have no choice but to keep him at the MLB level. Hundley could be gone for good even if he starts hitting at AAA (which I think he will because of where it is).

Next up....Maybin. He had 2 meaningless hits last night to get him over .200. He needs to start coming through when it counts to keep him in the lineup and on the roster.

if hundley starts hitting and they simply ship him off that'd be really crazy. catchers need days off so it's important to have two good catchers. hundley has at the very least proven himself to be a very good back up catcher, plus he knows our pitchers. someone has to teach grandal and i'd rather have hndley bring him along than the 31 yr old journeyman catcher.

Maybin is out of options. He isn't going anywhere.

Grandal hitting 5th today... Why are we immediately putting this kid in the middle of the lineup?

A Nick Hundley demotion was long over due. See how he performs as the most expensive AAA player we have

Truth is we are stocked full of 7 and 8 hole hitters. Glad we are giving the rookie a shot.

"Maybin is out of options. He isn't going anywhere."

It's weird to me that he is out of options but Hundley is/wasn't.

Well as for me I'm kind of sad to see Nick sent down. In spring training he was one our best hitters, what went wrong? I always thought Nick would turn it around sometime this year. He sure was hard to watch this year tho. Seemed to come up at just the wrong time and strike out again and again. I hope he finds his stroke and makes it back up at some point in time this year. He calls a good game and has a big gun of an arm, wish him the best of luck.

I would give Nick a couple weeks down there, if anything, dont rush him back.

well he can't be recalled for 10 days unless there is an injury, but I wouldn't be surprised for this to be 3-4 weeks

I would let him marinate down there for awhile. By all accounts he was really pressing. Bud mentioned that he wasn't playing loose and not having fun. He needs to watch a little Bull Durham. It will be interesting to see how he does at AAA....the PCL is definitely hitter friendly (check the league stats...crazy). It certainly would be nice to see him come back up a different hitter (they guy that finished last season hitting .288 would be great).

He's stepping up to the plate gripping the bat so tight that sawdust is falling around his feet.. He is trying so hard that everything to do with batting has become an effort.. every player I have ever talked to talks about having relaxed hands when they are in the box.

He is just completely pressing and that almost always leads to failure..

I heard Nick was doing good down there. But what does that really mean? The way this kid is hitting, and Nicks lack of hitting, what would he have to do to get back up and get another chance? I likes Nick a lot but, this kid can pound the ball, haven't seen enough of his arm yet to say much about that. Nick on the other hand has a nice arm and calls a good game too. Still what do you think? What will it take?
