Here's something we might all agree on, at least I'm crossing my fingers;-)....ever wonder why they pad the stats?? they out right lie and deceive!! Example: I'm 5ft10 and I've met Asdrubal, and I'm a few inches taller than him. Yet in the bio section they have him listed at 6 ft!!:-).......is there no authority who watches over these deceptions?? Tired of talking about how the Indians spin, this is something concrete. Thanks in advance!

It's an exaggeration because it makes the athletes bigger than what they really are. It happens all the time in sports, it has to do with the perception that they are bigger than what they really are.

Especially for the shortest guys in all major sports, they love to add a couple of inches for them.

Well yes that OBVIOUS, but WHY is it permitted by the officials??? If I hit .277 in say 2012, the folks doing the bios don't say "well, we'll add some points to his average to make him appear better" let's change .277 to .297 That's my point. If I'm 5'10", Asdrubal at the MOST, is only 5'7" I notice in basketball, they do it right, even by a quarter inch!.

You should be more concerned by Santana's. I've met him in person, and I'll be honest, I'm a short guy. I'm only 5'6" and Santana, by MLB standards, is 5'11". In person, I'd say he is an inch or two taller than myself...

It kind of makes me wonder how tall Jose Altuve really is, because they claim he is 5'7".

Blame it on the media guides who put those numbers in the media book. It has nothing to do with the players.

This is a common practice in every sport, it improves player's chances of getting drafted.

You want to talk about exaggerations, talk weight. Now those numbers you can clearly tell when they add weight without having to stand next to a player.

For example, there was just a picture posted on Facebook of Cav's first round pick, Dion Waiters, and Hornet's Austin Rivers. Rivers is listed at 6'5, Waiters at 6'4....but....in the picture Waiters has a very slight height advantage over in the picture.

Must be because Rivers is a "bigger name".
