What kind of right handed hitter could we get in return for CP?

Guy is clearly a tool.

I agree with you. CP is a very good closer and having a great season so we should trade him while his value is at it's highest. The fact is by the time the Indians make any sort of move it will be too late for this season anyway.

With all the issues the team has, you wanna get rid of the one guy who is producing?

First, your link doesn't work.

Aside from that, I had no problem trading CP before the season, and I would have no problem trading him right now, except for the fact that our bullpen depth is depleted compared to what it was before the year. Pestano can easily close, I have no question about that. But our set-up roles are very unclear at the moment. Hagadone has struggled, Barnes is brand new. Smith would be fine from the right side, but until you find a legit, reliable lefty, I just don't think you can afford to move pieces around in that bullpen right now.

As I said, two months ago I would have wholeheartedly agreed, but that was before we lost Raffy Perez, before Hagadone started struggling with his control, before CC Lee got hurt, etc.

Yep, got it. Thanks. More of the same from CP...as you said, shut up and pitch.

The 90's Indians had something that drew fans, an Offense. I'm sorry, but it's far more entertaining to see a great offense than great pitching. I LOVE watching pitcher's duels, but when we consistently can't score more than 2 or 3 runs a game, I get bored. I vote we trade CP and we could probably get a great bat and a decent bat.

We might be able to get something decent for CP at this point, and his trade value will likely never be higher than it is right now...but I don't care about drawing fans. Fans support a winning team, regardless of whether it's an offensive juggernaut or pitching and defense oriented team. We obviously need a bat, but I don't think it's a wise idea to create one hole just to fill another. There's no one bat available on the trade market that makes this offense into a great one.

I don't know. I know the Mets are in dire needs of some bullpen help. Their closer just went on the DL. We might be able to get a decent bat and a prospect or two for CP. I'd probably till be willing to make that trade.

I know the Mets need bullpen help, but they're in a similar situation as us. Are they really going to be willing to make a move that weakens their current lineup in order to land an expensive closer? Obviously they aren't going to move Wright, and honestly the only other player on their roster that interests me is Hairston. I am FAR from a big fan of Chris Perez, but I certainly think we could do better than Scott Hairston for our current closer.

Yeah I'm not to familiar with the Mets and once I went and looked at their Roster, I realized the only decent hitters they have that they might trade are left handed anyways...

I had no problem with CP talking about the attendance because that directly affects him.

But talking about LeBron James and the Browns?! Come on...

Yeah. I would trade cp, brantley, cabrera, pestano, hannahan, kipnis, and masterson. All those guys have high value right now......smh

By the way that NY Times writer said the Indians are 11-2 in one run games? They are 12-2. I keep track of those numbers, but on a more serious note to CP....Bash your own offense for NOT putting you on the field in the 9th inning, before you bash the fans again. Just a thought.

I was more willing to trade Chris Perez when we had one of the best bullpens in the majors. Now we have three good pitchers in the pen and the rest are scrubs. We trade CP, we're left with two good pitchers out there.

Let's keep trading good players for prospects. That will definitely work out.

Oh wait..

Cmon trade an All-Star closer who is young for someone like Michael Brantley or Matt LaPorta

I supported Chris Perez last season and I support him even more so this season.

Adaree should be happy because Chris' numbers are across the board are even better this season than last season (K/9, BB/9, FIP, etc).

Even if Vinnie can take over as a lights out closer (we won't know that until he gets the job), that leaves us with a hole for the 7th and 8th inning setup jobs. I haven't crunched the numbers, but I think we have lost only one game this season where we led after 7 innings (opening day - Perez's only blown save).

f we trade Rage or Vinnie (or both), I'm concerned that we WILL lose more than we MIGHT gain.

If I'm the GM, somebody has to knock my socks off to get Chris Perez.

Chris will be 27 July1. He has been very good as our closer for 3 years (2 1/2, really), and I know that closers can be hot and cold from year to year, but I like the thought of having him as our closer for 5 or more years.

100% agree. I'm sorry, unless you have a 0 ERA and you strike out every batter you face, you have no place bashing your fans. And even if you, still, don't bite the hand that feeds.
