Have you seen Vogelbach lately? He really trimmed down since he was drafted.

In his picture of him linked to Boise's stats, he's wearing a Boise Hawks hat and has a bit of a double chin. He was just promoted to Boise about a month ago. I'm glad he's making progress, and personally, I don't care if he's fat, as long as he keeps hitting. I just thought it was kind of funny.

Having lived in the Fort Myers area I've had the luxury of seeing some young Cubs before they were Cubs...

Casey Coleman was dominant and his mound presence sold me. Unfortunately he seems to have lost all presence on the mound.

Speaking of presence I remember seeing Vog's at Bishop Verot, and his presence was of different sorts. He is a force with the bat and he's lost something other than presence: People may think that he's fat or overweight but I guarantee you he has lost size (fat), he may weigh close to the same but he is built a lot better than when I saw him... Knock him on his double chin but he's thinned out, probably stacking some more muscle under his frame these days

I moved this year from that area to Orlando. Now that I'm in Orlando, I'm close enough to catch games in Daytona... Hello Mr. Baez, meet Torreyes, Villanueva, and I would say Alcantara but he could be seriously hurt.

What's the story with Alcantara? All I know that he is on the DL with a leg injury

Do you think people made fun of Babe Ruth? Maybe Vogelbach is his reincarnate?

I have been watching him just about every home game on MiLB.TV since and he is really a good hitter.

I was surprised to see that he runs the bases better than I expected.

He also doesn't use either chin in the hitting process. :)

He's 19, so it's only babyfat...:). Besides, he is actually pretty light on his feet and runs fairly well for a big guy.

He does not move like a slug. His mobility reminds me a little of Albert Brennaman played by Kevin James in the movie HITCH -- in that scene right after he kissed Allegra the first time on her doorstep.

How can you know for sure that he doesn't use either chin? Maybe he gets a special power from that second chin, kind of like "breathing through the eyelids" worked for "Nuke" LaLoosh. And he'll definitely use the padding of that extra one if he ever has to take one on the chin.

Good little quip. I absolutely love the swing, and saw him run the 60 in just over 7 seconds at a workout. He's hit a few triples, so he has to have a little speed and agility. I also like what I've seen of his attitude, like a kid who's humble and willing to work to get better.

It is the future projection that gets interesting, but if he keeps raking, it's another nice problem to confront later. The best would be that the NL adopts the DH in the next couple of years. I just hope they don't trade him off so we can watch his progression.

I never considered the possibility that he could be one of the X-men with mutant abilities.

It's not totally out of the question that there could be an alien life form hiding somewhere inside Vogelbach's body. Since they ride buses in the minors, no one would know...

It's still a "leg injury" which has lasted for quite some time now... He had a stint last year on the DL with his ankle... I'm not speculating that they are related... Just that neither injury was fully explained or revealed, just an injury all reporters/announcers are placating to a vague area. He's simply on the DL-7.

I don't really care if he is fat either, but the guy has lost well over 25lbs from when he was drafted. Shows that he is taking his commitment to baseball seriously.

I think Vogelbach realizes a position change is in his future if he wants to make the ML roster as a Cub.

Hopefully Vogelbach gets moved to left or right field soon. He appears to be the kind of player who could force his way on a major league roster sooner than expected due to his ability to hit, IMO.
