>If Vitters' defense has really improved that much, I can't think of an argument against bringing him up. <

oh i can: we might not make the playoffs if Vitters doesn't instantly light it up! LOL

seriously, bring him up see what happens. Bring up a slew of young guys and let them play for three or four weeks. We have NOTHING to lose. Any fan dumb enough to prefer to see Soriano and DeJesus over potential future players is nuts.

"Bring up a slew of young guys and let them play for three or four weeks. "

No, if you bring up guys like Vitters and Jackson then they must start for the rest of the season, not 3 or 4 weeks and send them back down or to the bench. That was the biggest problem with our development throughout the years, that BS back and forth yo-yoing. Especially a guy like Vitters where if history is any indication, he will struggle when he first comes up before adjusting

fine bring them up for the rest of the year. why watch Sori and Dejesus play? so we can finish in 5th instead of 6th?

they need to play right now because of potential trades. Dejesus is a guy who hasn't been mentioned much but I could easily see being traded. I wouldn't be surprised to see Soriano shut down shortly after the trading deadline, if he isn't traded, and have knee surgery.

yes dumping Sori is a good reason to keep him in the field unless we pass the trade deadline.

we aren't really trading Sori, we are just trying to mitigate how much we lose on him. If we could get a team to eat half his salary for the next three years I think we'd give him away for a PTBNL. If Theo really thinks Sori by himself can bring prospects if we pay 90% of Sori's salary -- he needs to find a team that needs cash and is willing to gamble on Sori's health.

DeJesus is a decent player but his stock won't go down much if he sits a lot -- he isn't a starter on a contender anyway

every players stock drops if they are sitting on the bench a lot vs starting

"seriously what contender wants DeJesus as a STARTER? "

Baltimore, Tampa, Detroit, Angels, Nationals, Mets, Miami, Pitt, San Fran

All have OFs starting for them that Dejesus would be an upgrade for

Josh Vitters is finally here! Can't wait to watch him play. Everyone knows or should know that he starts out slow when promoted to a new level. So I hope I don't hear that he is a bust if he starts out slow.

I am sure we will. Just making sure people know ()that are not aware he is a slow starter. People want a rebuild and we have it. I am excited.
