I am curious to hear what Brewers fans think of announcer Joe Block at this point in the season. I realize that I am opening a Pandora's box here, but I am hoping that people keep their comments intelligent and respectful even if they don't care for Block's style.
I have tried giving Mr. Block a chance, realizing that any broadcast team needs time to gel and any broadcaster needs some time to find a rhythm. That being said, I'm still not very confident that Mr. Block will get to the point where he energizes me as a baseball listener. His voice is definitely clear and pleasant-sounding (he reminds me a little of John Miller), but his overall tone range is too limiting to do justice to the emotional moments of a game. I find myself hoping that Uecker was on the mic when something great happens because Mr. Block's enthusiasm just doesn't come across with the same energy as Jim Powell or Cory Provus did.
I'm sure Mr. Block is a wonderful man. I'm just not finding myself a fan of his announcing style.
So, Brewers fans, without skewering the man, what do you think of Block's style so far?
