    • Not much of a chance against Strasburg and Gonzalez

With the temperature over 100 and Strasburg throwing 100, the Braves are like lambs to the slaughter. And a lefty, Gonzalez, going tomorrow... well the Braves fold against lefties.

The Braves just have to chalk the game today and the one tomorrow as losses and just try to win the rest of the games to the All-Star break. If Dan Uggla could break out of his slump and come into the All-Star and not embarrass the Braves, that would be great.

hope that the nationals only score 1 run tonight though. that way strasburg stays in the game to throw a complete game. he needs to reach his inning limit fasterer.

good idea Eddie, the Braves could fold in some games every year and make the season shorter, no need to even play them.

The Nationals will probably lead in the standings throughout the season, I bet that innings limit isn't set in stone. They will probably change his training regimen and shut him down at some point early so that he can get a few starts before the playoffs and then be ready for when the games matter even more. Their pitching is overachieving and they may not be sure what they are going to get from them exactly going forward, especially in regards to next season. I also believe that Edwin Jackson signed a 1 year contract, so he might not be back. They are certainly going for it this year if they have the chance and that means Strasburg will be pitching down the stretch.

Itll be 100 degrees for Strasburg to you know.

He isnt exactly the picture of stamina and durability.

Also, i dont rule out Minor shutting the nats down. he isnt a bust.

Famous last words.

3 innings ROFL! They really will struggle with Strasburg all season. If not injury it is clear they only will pitch him if he's dominating. Priceless.

2 out of 3 starts against Atlanta this season Strasburg has allowed 4 ER and 3 ER. The other start was a 7.0 inning 9 strikeout shutout performance but he isnt necessarily lights out against the brave.s

4IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

"Not a chance to win....."

Yesterday proved if the offense shows up ATL can overcome marginal pitching. Its when the offense takes a day off and we have marginal pitching that its an automatic loss. With Hudson going, the offense usually steps up, but may not be enough with our LH-edness of the order today. Maybe the heat will get to Gio more than Huddy and ATL can work a win.

I posted this right before they crept back in it. The bullpen was only credited with giving up 1, but actually allowed 3? Medlen did about as well as he could, given the situation he was brought in to clean up.

Let us not fool ourselves here...

Yesterday only proved that the Braves didn't have to face a good pitcher who can deal with heat well.

So, we end up seeing Francisco highlights against Wang.

In other words, it wasn't the offense that stepped up against good pitching, it was the offense that got a break by facing a very mediocre pitcher for a few of the middle innings.
