Interesting. Myers was nearly traded to the White Sox at the deadline two years ago, though his trade value was much higher then. Their system is pretty thin...but it's not likely that Myers would command a top prospect in return, anyway. Maybe they'll give us Keenyn Walker?

Ken Rosenthal (via Twitter) is reporting that, “Source: #WhiteSox acquire Brett Myers from #Astros.”

According to the Astros Twitter feed, “GM Jeff Luhnow announced Astros have acquired RHP Matt Heidenreich, LHP Blair Walters and PTBNL from White Sox in exchange for Brett Myers ”

We are still waiting for specifics on the trade.

Looks like its official. Blair Walters could be a nice pickup, he's got a pretty good K/9 for a lefty, and a fastball that sits in the low 90s.

Sweet! The more I watch these guys, the more I think we should deal all of them and totally start over!

I'm sure that was the best package on the table for us. I am assuming they didn't want to sit and wait for something better to come along, which is not a bad idea because we could have been stuck with Myers.

Looks like the Astros are taking on most of Myers's salary, which hopefully means the PTBNL is a good one. Probably somebody drafted last year who signed late, so we should find out in a few weeks.

1. LOL at this happening less than 24 hours after the "Myers still Astros closer" articles when we dealt for Cordero.
2. For whatever reason, Myers to the White Sox seems perfect. Maybe because he reminds me of Bobby Jenks.
3. Walters' peripherals for a lefty look nice, probably a guy with a reliever floor.
4. Heidenreich looks like the main piece; 21 years old in AA, fastball that has reportedly hit mid-90's, big frame (6'6", 200 lbs). Intriguing prospect.
5. It's becoming a theme; what will that PTBNL end up being...?

Without having looked over everything carefully, more solid pitching depth. Good move on the surface.
