    • Why didn't Scioscia....

I'm wondering now, after watching the team go 10-13 after the A/S/G, and seeing the BP completely collapse during that stretch, whether or not - I'm thinking NOT - Mike Scioscia thought to have the BP pitchers do some work over the break, or did he allow them to take the time, basically off?

That break is like 5 or 6 days off, and I really wonder if Butcher or Scioscia even considered giving the relievers a workout regimen during their time off, to maintain the sharpness, they seemed to have before, where they had gone 13-7 in the few weeks, prior to the break?

Could they - Scioscia, Butcher, and/or the pitchers, themselves - have REALLY overlooked something so amazingly simple?

The break was 4 days - Monday through Thurs of AS week, and they did have a work out at the stadium.

That's it then! Scioscia and Butcher OVERWORKED them at a time they should have used to regroup and get ready for the second half! Fire them both!!

I could be wrong, I think he's trying to be thoughtful rather than just bashing.

Most of the bashing is without thought. The fact is our bullpen is two men short and has been pathetic most likely because it's two men short.

We led in all 7 games. And we led late. I got a lot of heat for wanting to trade Trumbo for bullpen help... rightfully so. All-in-all Trumbo has had a very good year, but our bullpen is killing us. This is why I wanted more bullpen guys. That one extra bullpen guy might have been the difference between a 3-4 road trip and a 7-0 road trip.

Greinke is a rental, even if resign him, if it's for market price, then we would have signed him anyway. We gave up a lot for two months. Maybe we would have been better off giving up a lot less for one more bullpen arm.

" I could be wrong, I think he's trying to be thoughtful rather than just bashing. "

I checked with my Magic 8-Ball and it asked, "was it rmunkee?" I said yes. It replied "highly doubtful."

Please let me know where you work so that I never apply there. I've never had a boss that required me to work on my days off, without pay to boot, and I'm not about to start now

Or he just works hourly.

That's possible. Hard to believe in today's society that people don't know much of the work force is salaried.

Only about 40% are salaried in the sense you're using it, actually. Most workers are hourly or salaried that's paid hourly (nurses are a good example of this) and get overtime.

<Maybe we would have been better off giving up a lot less for one more bullpen arm.>

I had similar thoughts after watching Myers and Liriano pitch for the White Sox this weekend.

For the most part i've been salaried since 1979.

Regardless, how do you not know enough about our economy to realize employees are both hourly and salaried?

It's hard for me to believe everyone doesn't know that.

How do you get this:

"Regardless, how do you not know enough about our economy to realize employees are both hourly and salaried? "

from this:

"I've never had a boss that required me to work on my days off, without pay to boot, and I'm not about to start now."

?

And, since I'm here . . .

" I got a lot of heat for wanting to trade Trumbo for bullpen help... rightfully so."

When were you saying trade Trumbo for bullpen help?

What do you think salaried employees do? Seriously? I'm totally bewildered how anyone could not know this?

I didn't ask about Angeleer's comment in isolation. I asked how you could derive this sentiment:

"Regardless, how do you not know enough about our economy to realize employees are both hourly and salaried? "

from what he had said. It is a substantial non sequitur, and it seems as if you were just trying too hard to be critical of Angeleer. Ironic, really, because you brought that up after exile had imlplied your own knowledge was off:

"Only about 40% are salaried in the sense you're using it, actually. Most workers are hourly or salaried that's paid hourly (nurses are a good example of this) and get overtime."

But because you'd already decided you need to huff and puff and blow Angeleer's house down, you throw out a line ("Regardless, how do you not know enough about our economy to realize employees are both hourly and salaried?") that doesn't even logically follow either from the dialogue you were having with exile nor from the larger criticism of Angeleer.

"Mid April."

Thanks.

Sometimes it's hard to keep straight what your point is, when on one hand you say that "I was wrong about Trumbo, but EVERYONE was wrong wrong about him" and on the other hand you say that you "got a lot of heat" for suggesting Trumbo be traded, when that in itself suggests plenty of people were RIGHT about Trumbo.

Mid-April. Got it. thanks.

His comment indicated he didn't realize that sometimes people have to work weekends and late hours to fulfill their job responsibilities.
