17 in 70 team games (only 61 for him)? Yes, I think he can. I think he'll end up with just over 40.

If he stays healthy, he WILL do it. I predict 41 HRS, 107 RBI and a .310 BA

He hits a lot of mistakes. At some point I think they are going to stop throwing him those pitches.

I'M NOT COMPLAINING... I just want to make that clear. He's not exactly setting the world on fire for BBs. I would think at some point pitchers are going to expand the plate and he'll get less of those pitches and he'll walk more.

But who knows? Obviously not me.

AG back to hating again, I mean if they are going to figure him out we had better trade him right? Why have they not made adjustments yet we are 1/3 of the way through the season! My predictions 45+ the kid is an absolute stud!

I don't think it's hating.. I doubt Trum is going to finish very close to a 1.000 OPS. Saying his numbers are likely to dip isn't "hating". Clearly, he should still be in the lineup every night.

I don't see 40 homers happening this year. Close, I think, but not quite. I think he certainly has the potential in the next couple of years to hit that many. I REALLY hope he doesn't participate in the HR Derby, though, as much as he deserves it. Too many players have begun slumping after the HR Derby.

Remember AG the man basically hit 30 homers while playing on one foot the last two months of the season.

He is more than capable of 40 even though it will be tough considering the park he plays in. His other numbers figure to drop a little but the power that has always been very real and the fact he is making more contact makes 40 very possible. Anyways you know how Trumbo likes to prove you wrong with his bat:)

I clearly don't know, but he's not walking a lot right now, which is better than not walking at all which he did last year. Players seldom hit more HRs than they walk.

I keep on expecting pitchers to really expand the plate, maybe it wont happen. But at some point pitchers are going to have to try something. I expect walking more (since when is that a bad thing?) and pitchers to challenge him less.

I'm just guessing.

If Scioscia would just leave him in the cleanup spot, yes!
It would help both Trumbo AND Albert put up better numbers. But, as much sense as that makes, we know it isn't going to happen.

I am just giving you a hard time since you said trumbo will never improve and how his obp will never be good! You were just so adamant about it I have to poke fun!

That's not a truthful statement.

" But, as much sense as that makes..."

Just because it makes sense to YOU doesn't mean squat.

This year Trumbo has had 60 PA in the 4 spot. He's hit 4 home runs. That would project to 40 HR in 650 PA.

He's had 127 PA in the 5 spot. He's hit 11 home runs. That projects to 54 HR in 650 PA.

Facts make sense. Not your biased thinking.

Just over the past 3 months or so here are some of your statements about trumbo (not all are about obp though)

-----------------------------------------------------------

If Trumbo is healthy, he is probably more like the 7th best hitter on the team

-----------------------------------------------------------

If he has a stat that says Trumbo is better than Callaspo, it's a bad stat.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Trumbo was not a good hitter last year. Trumbo has not looked good defensively in the spring. His OBP shows no signs of improving.

---------------------------------------------------------------
The last three healthy years Callaspo has played he's done this:

305/361/371
300/356/457
288/366/375

Last year Trumbo did this.
254/291/477

Second Half he did this
247/275/469.

His k to bb rate went from
65/16 to 55/9.

Why are you so sure he's going to improve? (this implies you think he won't improve)

--------------------------------------------------------------

So this is what I have found after 3 minutes of searching I am sure I can find many more instances of trumbo hating and talking about how callaspo is superior to him. If you had your wish and trumbo was traded (which you called for numerous times) this team would not be where it is now even with Trout!

Last year Callaspo was a better hitter.

I turned out to be wrong. He was the seventh best hitter last year and we added Trout, Pujols, and Morales. Mathis was worse, he was gone. I was hopeful Trout would push Wells to 4th outfielder. I calculated wrong.

Trumbo wasn't a good hitter last year. And his spring OBP did show no signs of improving.

Why are you so sure he's going to improve? (this implies you think he won't improve)

No it doesn't!!!!!! I have thousands of post... you have to come up with quotes where you read between the lines?

WHERE.... OH WHERE.... Did I say Trumbo CAN'T Improve.... It's a flat out lie...

Why can't you tell the truth. These are the best quotes you got and many refer to his 2011.

So this is what I have found after 3 minutes of searching
--
Then find some good stuff and stop this drivel. And post to the thread so I can read it in context.

This attempt was/is disgusting.

Where you err is in calling it "hating." He was simply basing his opinion on what he projected from the stats he was looking at.

Mark made vast improvements at the plate. AG doubted he could. That's not hating on him.

amazing that some mlb club hasn't snatched you up as a coach yet. So insightful.

It's possible that he's so good right now that he's eventually going to start getting fewer pitches to hit. That will probably lead to more walks.

I don't know, it's just a guess.
