Yeah just looked it up. I see Morneau been called up in 2003 and after this year will be his 10th full year completed but also did time in the minors in 2004 for 72 some games. But does that affect his 10-5 right ? Because after this year if he wants to be traded, he has the right to reject any proposed trade. If that so the case, Morneau will be better off moving this year.

The ten and five rights isn't with seasons played, it has to be ten years of major league SERVICE time. In Morneau's case, with the time he spent going up and down to AAA his first couple seasons, he only has 7.186 years (According to baseball reference going into this season so now its a little higher) of service time. So Morneau has a couple more seasons before he will have his 10 and five rights.

Also the Braves are looking for a shortstop to fill the void till their young guns come back from shortstop. They are looking for a 'veteran-stopgap' type player to hold the fort for a month or so, then slip into a utility player. Not someone who is necessarily an offensive player, but solid on defense.

I don't know much about Reds prospects but I could imagine the Reds would be interested in Span AND Liriano to shore up your rotation.

If you have a playoff rotation of Cueto-Latos-Liriano I think you would have a decent shot at the whole thing, especially with Span upgrading your lead off spot ahead of Votto and those boppers.

IF the Twins trade Span and Liriano it would be for a top prospect. Span has a team friendly contract that runs through 2015, and Liriano has been pitching pretty good over the last 2 months (ERA under 3.00). Want Capps too?

I really dont think Jocketty would give up our top prospects that it would take to get Liriano,but with Span I'm thinking a ptching prospect and Bobby Hamilton who is blocked on the ml roster and another minor league guy

Do you mean Billy Hamilton? That cat has got some base stealing ability doesn't he? I am not sure where Hamilton would fit in the Twins plan since he now just moved up to AA. If he was a little higher up the ladder he makes sense since there isn't much in the Twins upper minors in terms of MI, but the bottom is showing a little life in that department.

What pitching prospect are you talking about? Like we talking Corcino or Cingrani? Not trying to over value Span, but that might be where it has to start in order to pick up Span with his contract.

Yeah I just saw that, it looks like they were going with someone that is expendable once Simmons gets back. Carroll wouldn't fit that bill, Janish would.

Good, still have a chance to move him but does that mean we still will be responsible for his salary if we get rid of him like that ? Pavano making 8.5 this year and is a free agent next year but also has a limited no trade clause.

Liriano looks like will be gone soon. Keeping Willingham only makes sense if we are to be signing couple of good starting pitchers in the off season. But if they are not going to, then there is no point of keeping Willingham when he is 33 years. I read some where that the Pirates asked for him lately. I still stand by what I said before. We are dead last in the division, clean house and go wit the youth movement going forward.

It all depends on how much the Halos would be willing to pay. I am assuming since Capps is only due a couple million down the stretch they will take most of his salary and then his 250k buyout for next season, or a 6 million dollar option depending on what they want.

Ah well yeah he won't be traded because he probably won't be pitching until August. He can go on the waivers, and could be traded from there. And if someone picks him up, they can work out some kind of trade with the Twins but they probably would only pick up a small amount of his salary since of his injury and lack of solid performance.

Looking at Pirates prospects, if we can land one of their two top pitching prospects like Gerrit Cole or Jameson Tailon along with couple of other lower grade prospects, Ryan will be stupid not to trade Willingham.

Oh man if the Pirates off Cole for Willingham, I would take that in a heartbeat.
