You can blame Jo Pa, he wanted a east coast football league with the following catch, PSU would keep all their money generated by football, not sharing with the other schools and PSU would get a share of the money generated by basketball, a sweet deal for PSU but a horrible deal for the other schools

Va Tech always wanted in the ACC. ACC barely claims NC STATE and didn't want to sully its hands with a school like Tech. Tech was not an original invitee of the ACC and wormed their way into the conference with some political pressure; however, they have cemented themselves into a mega conference and I think the ACC has actually been happy with ending up with them.

UCONN and RUTGERS may eventually join the ACC after Pitt and Syracuse. The ACC will eventually need 16 schools to become one of the four mega conferences (The SEC, PAC, BIG 10, and ACC).

I think the ACC is turning up their nose to WV for some reason although it seems to be a better geographic fit for them. WV may actually go to the SEC, but it would seem insane for any mega conference not to invite them when they have such a good football and basketball program. West Virginia fans will travel as well, but WV seems to have a rivalry with lots of school in the ACC-Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Maryland. It would have been the best fit.

I don't like all these mega conferences but that's the way its going.I guess there are more important things to be concerned about.

Uconn could have something to say about that especially having landed the number 1 recruit in the country in Andre Drummond, well see would be an awesome game if they were to play each other this year, im fine with UNC being ranked number 1 in the preseason.

I will miss WVA but it is my understanding that they don't fit academically. I also see the ACC going to 16 and I hope that the two other additions will be WVA and UConn. Rutgirls has to go somewhere and I think that the Patriot League would be good for them :)

There is a report from NBC sports that West Virginia has been turned down by BOTH the ACC and the Big Ten(ish). That has to hurt a little. They don't have the academics for the ACC and they don't cheat enough for the Big Whatever . Maybe there will be a 5th super conference after all because the Mountaineers are not done playing big time football.

Yup. Just lookin on-line and it seems they were turned down for lack of dental hygiene.

Weird......

It is going to be tough to cob together a 5th super conference that would be an automatic qualifier. WV,ND,Baylor, Kansas,K State,South Florida,Texas Tech,Iowa St,Oklahoma ,Oklahoma State,Missouri,Army , Navy ,x and x.... I don't see it. I like the 4 super conference concept (now that Syracuse is assured a seat at the table lol). Everybody plays a 10 game regular season and the top 4 from each conference would go to a 16 team National Championship tournament.

Lotta talk about Oklahoma goin to the Pac 10. This is all just crazy.

I wish they'd ALL just make a plan, announce it and be done with it.....TONIGHT, lol.

Uconn will go ACC and probably Rutgirls now that WV has been snubbed. I was wrong earlier because WVA has not been turned down by the Big Ten yet just the ACC and the SEC.It looks like the market solutions people are calling a halt to the pretense of having 120 odd big time football programs. It is all about getting a spot in the top 64 now.

There will be the same number of top prospect but fewer schools to choose from. That means that the private schools will start getting more top prospects.Wake ,Duke,BC.Pitt and Syracuse should benefit from that.
