I agree--best SS in the league---good OBP---good in clutch---plays like Peety---wants to win---is happy to be in Boston---best overall shortstop we've had in years!

Did you know that the 'sloth/utility infielder/butcher of anything hit his way' is probably one of the top three best defensive shortstops in the entire game right now? Second in UZR, Third in UZR/150, 4'th in Range Runs (Not bad for a sloth), Leads MLB in DP's started, 5'th least amount of errors... Do you REALLY have faith in Aviles manning the hole yet, TD?

No, I don't.
He plays the outfield for crying out loud, I see more infield hits than ever this year.

To the poster above that said he has a good OBP- LOOK AGAIN, .285 is ATROCIOUS.

That was a sad post, TD.

Just admit that you were wrong about Aviles being a bad defensive SS. The stats don't lie!

Yes, they DO.
They don't account for all the infield hits because he is playing the outfield(because he HAS to).

You're struggling. I can hear it in your words.

Defensive whiz, Mike Aviles! With calves greater than Omar Vizquel's head!

I'm not struggling at all bro, he's what I said he was at the beginning of the year.....only now he has a .285 OBP..........BAH!

Good OBP?!! His OBP is .285! He's drawn all of 10 BBs all season. Darnell McDonald had 12 in less than 1/3 of the plate appearances Aviles has had, and people couldn't wait to run him out of town.

Aviles is far from the worst SS in the league, both offensively and defensively, but he's also not close to being the best either. He's been a little better defensively than many gave him credit for before the season started, but offensively he's been well below what many expected. If we were going to be OK with a .285 OBP the team would have kept Alex Gonzalez around after the 2006 season and we never would have wound up with Julio Lugo or Marco Scutaro in Boston. Heck, the whole reason why Iglesias is seen as not being ready yet is because we wanted someone who could make fewer outs than that at the SS position.

I don't care about his OBP, he's been clutch!

Just admit that you were wrong about Aviles being a "snail, sloth, butcher, liability, pathetic, utility infielder, etc". He's a top 3 defensive SS this season! His defense is SAVING runs!

BTW - If he raises his BA, my ".300, 15-20 HR's 20 SB's, 70+ RBI, with solid defense" prediction will be spot on!

Go me.

Not sure what you're carrying on about, he's still a sloth with a BA of .266 and an OBP of .285

Haven't you figured out by now that Bashbro is really Aviles mother?

Are you even watching the games?

He's a top 3 defensive SS, who has a .901 OPS with RISP!

What do you know? Yankee fan. Pssssh.

How's Jeter's defense this year? -20.4 UZR/150. HAHA.

Now THAT'S a liability.

I see you didn't deny it. Haha!

I see you don't deny that Jeter's defense is costing the Yankees 20 runs a year, and is a DH playing SS.
