Xtra Sports 690 reports that the Dodgers have reached a preliminary agreement with JD Drew for $11 million per year. Length of contract was not reported.

Uhh, can you point me toward "Xtra Sports 690"? That one's not on my "Favorites" list of Dodger sites. I hope that we do get J.D., but I just wanted to check out the credibility of the site. Thanks.

And hey, cheer up, it's a long winter. There's no reason for you to use that screen name and give the Pods and SF fans a reason to smile. They don't deserve it. And you'll see, things will work out for the best.

ClearChannel now simulcasts the same programming on both 690 and 1150.

Operations were moved to a Los Angeles area studio several months ago, but 690 still uses its Mexican license and transmitter.

690 is deemed a SoCal sports channel. That includes Chargers to Dodgers and everything in between.

But the 690 signal tower is in Mexico and has no FCC regulations on it. You can pick up the station close to San Francisco on a clear day.

It's getting to where you have to consider everything b.s. until the player is putting on the uniform and smiling.

well, be it san diego or LA, all they talk about are LA teams and the JD Drew report still stands.

Well I just listened to 690's latest SoCal sports report and they said nothing about Drew...so I'm gonna say it's BS or just an educated guess based on the paperwork for the trade being submitted.

Quite honestly 11 million for Drew is a joke. However, Depo has himself painted into such a corner that its obvious that he has very few other options to field a team with any chance to be atleast .500

Unfortunatly everyone knows this and therefore the cost will go up as we get held for ransom by players and agents.

Ridiculous that we pay Drew 11 million per year but let Beltre walk.

Beltre will be getting 17 mil this year, that is a lot more than the 11 mil we would give Drew, even if the average for Drew ends up higher.

I don't care what the Mariners are paying Beltre this year....his deal averages out to about 13 million a year.....but, we are giving an injury riddled....bad back having...prima donna 11 million a season. I was going to give DePoodesta the benefit of the doubt....I now know he has gone completely mad. Wait until June when Drew is nursing a bum knee, a hamstring pull and is cashing those 11 million dollar checks. An absolute joke.

Thats a good point. Fans need to realize that the deal was frontloaded which and for five years.

How do you classify a prima-donna? I've never heard Drew open his mouth? Care to explain?

He sat out a whole year because he didn't get the largest signing bonus in baseball history.

So, it was frontloaded. That doesn't excuse us from being the lowest offer of the four teams that bid on Beltre (Boston, Detroit, Seattle, and us), particularly considering the production he has given the team.

IF Depo had offered $12.8M annually at 5 years, the same time and total money the mariners did, and Beltre turned it down because he wanted it front loaded, I would blame Beltre. But Beltre never got the chace because Depo low balled him .
