One interesting tidbit from the interview so far:

"Centerfield is one position ideally would be good to have a power bat at, that's why Lane is at AAA working on it. I don't know what that means for Burke, but, we'll see about that later."

No mention of Willy T AT ALL. I found that VERY interesting. I honestly think if Purp can swing the Tejada deal, Willy is gone to Baltimore along with Everett and a bullpen pitcher.

It DEFINITELY doesn't involve Hirsh (Chronicle talked to NL Officials about it) and most likely not Pence either. The O's want guys on the current MLB roster, not prospects....

I wouldn't trust the Chronicle when it says "NL Officials" as it's source.... it could be anybody, and I imagine that they wouldn't really be ALLOWED to talk about such deals that are in the works..

I trust the Chronicle more than I trust John Kruk and Joe Morgan though!!!!

I also trust the Chronicle more than the Chicago Tribune who owns the Cubs!

Those are the only two sources for "Hirsh, Pence, Everett, Lidge, Taveras for Tejada" nonsense!

I agree... but I trust nobody's word when it comes to this sh*t...... when I hear this cr*p, the only thing I can take to heart is that phone calls have been made to ask about Tejada... beyond that, it's anyone's guess as to who is to be packaged.

Well that depends if it is team source or not dosen't it. Heck nine time out of ten every writer that mentions a trade rumor cites his/her source as a "NL or AL offical".

..... and who else? If thats all Purpura offers, he won't get a return call. There are teams out there that will offer more than that, for an autographed picture of the guy. Without Hirsh and or Pence, or Burke,there is absolutely no point in talking about Tejada.

The Orioles specifically DO NOT WANT PROSPECTS!!!!! That means NO PENCE, NO HIRSH!!!!!

Burke was never discussed because he doesn't fill a need for them. It will be Everett, Taveras, and ONE of the following:

Lidge, Qualls or Nieve!!!!!

THE ORIOLES DO NOT WANT HUNTER PENCE OR JASON HIRSH...They are PROSPECTS NOT ON THE 25 MAN MAJOR LEAGUE ROSTER!!!!!!!!

When did the lightbulb come on about having Lane in CF as a power hitter. I think there is more to it than that. That to me doesnt add up.........

Lane wasn't a power hitter in RF and he's not very swift. He'd have to play really deep and just let a lot of singles dump in. I'd love to see us add a real CF... i'd be thrilled if there was more to it than that.
