I don't know if these are ever read by the players or not but I wanted to apologize for the fans that were booing you tonight. I wasn't one of them but I felt bad for you as you walked off hearing that. Everyone has a bad day and ok, tonight was yours. You didn't do it on purpose it was just one of those things that happens to every player. You are such an awesome asset to the Angels team and we'd be hurting without you. I've watched you for so long grow as a pitcher and I was embarrassed that the fans booed you tonight. You didn't deserve that. I'm excited to see you in the post-season as I know you'll bounce back from this loss and help the Angels beat the Red Soxs and then Tampa Bay. You can do it John - Keep your head high. An Angel fan forever, Teresa

Speaking for myself only, and not for other fans, I was booing Mike Scioscia not Lackey.

And when Lackey finally walked off, I applauded him and was yelling "It's not your fault!"

No starting pitcher should ever be subjected to what Mike did to Lackey and has done to other pitchers on our team before. When a pitcher has an off night, that happens. Recognize it, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE PARK DID, and get him out of there before 1) He gets humiliated and discouraged, 2) His ERA balloons unfairly, and 3) (and most importantly) get him out of there before an off night by just one of your 40 players has unfairly robbed the entire team of a chance to win the game.

I saw Mike do this to Bartolo Colon once at Dodger Stadium, and then he bashed Colon in the post-game press conference. I've disliked Mike ever since.

Seriously, if I was ever a GM or team owner, I'd FIRE any manager who EVER let a starting pitcher give up 10 runs in a game.

John is and will be fine, he's one tough dude. These vets are not made of glass and John isn't gonna get shaken by booing. He isn't a little league kid or a little girl, he's a stud. Go get em next time meat!

No disagreement. That doesn't make what Mike did to him right, though.

I turned the game off after the second inning. What happened? Did MS actually bring Lackey back into the game for the third inning? I take it he gave up 10 of the runs? They had eight when I turned the game off. I didn't turn it back on until the eighth inning and I saw that they had scored 12 runs.

I won't hide the fact that this being his last start before the Playoffs, this worries me.

I've never heard Mike Scioscia "bash" any of his players; he may say they had an off night; but never ever bash them.

You were actually booing during the game last night? WOW - how much more does this team have to do for you to be happy with them? It was an off night, all we lost was a game, not like the Rangers are going to take over 1st or anything. . .like Billy MacDonald said on the post game "They lost, oh well."

You obviously haven't been following Angels baseball long, and don't know much about John Lackey. More than likely, this is going to make him "angry" the more he thinks about it and he'll come out on Wednesday, firing bullets.

It sounds as though MS was the one being booed for not taking Lackey out earlier.

I wasn't there, so I don't know, and I didn't watch the game after the 2nd inning, until very late in the game and then, very briefly.

I was at the game last night and there were jackholes in my section actually booing Lackey...One guy stood up and yelled "F you Lackey"....I, being the shrinking violet that I am, yelled back at him..."F YOU!"...What a bunch of bandwagon fans, it seemed like they just started following baseball yesterday.

"Why would you boo EITHER OF THEM?! "

I wouldn't EVER boo a player for trying his best.

I will ALWAYS boo a manager for embarassing a player, no matter how well that manager usually does.

"I've never heard Mike Scioscia "bash" any of his players; he may say they had an off night; but never ever bash them."

And that's the ONLY time I've ever heard him do it. Apparently you missed it. I don't remember the exact words, because it was 2-3 years ago, but basically when asked why he didn't remove Color when everyone in the park could see there was something wrong with him, Mike essentially said, "don't blame me , blame Colon for s#cking."

"You were actually booing during the game last night? WOW - how much more does this team have to do for you to be happy with them?

I'm very happy with this team. How many times do I have to state that my gripe is with a specific Scioscia behavior, not with the team or Lackey?

"You obviously haven't been following Angels baseball long, and don't know much about John Lackey. "

Oh, good grief, bekkie. I may not spend half my life on this board like some people, but that's an arrogant and condescending statement that's beneath you, because I've posted enough here that you should know better. I've been following Angels baseball since I moved to Southern California in 1970. And for the umpteenth time, I'm talking about SCIOSCIA not LACKEY.

Wow. I'd have probably yelled the same thing back.

In my section, besides me yelling at Scioscia, you would have heard things like, "C'mon Mike, how come no one's even warning up.", "Let's go, Scioscia," and "What are you waiting for, Mike?"

You know....As I think about these idiots saying foul things to Lackey, these fools are bandwagoners. I mean, if these were true fans, the wouldn't forget that Lackey came out of the DL and pitched his best during the month of June. Also, isn't he the same pitcher that beat the odds at Fenway and almost pitched a no-hitter? Now he's always had bad luck there, and to end that karma with a bang like that, speaks volumes. He's only human. Everyone has a bad night. I was a little frustrated too, but not enough that I would to stoop so low like those fools. But hey whatever. He will be ready for the Sox, especially having an outing like he did in Fenway, should be a great confidence booster. He can do it again, but this time, in front of us fans. : ) Go Angels!!
