"The Angels' Chone Figgins could be part of a package to land White Sox third baseman Joe Crede, who is arbitration eligible after this season and is in the middle of a breakout season after a standout postseason. White Sox general manager Ken Williams has a tenuous relationship with Scott Boras, Crede's agent. Boras is an Angels season ticket holder and represents Jered Weaver and Chris Bootcheck.

As Captain Picard would say on Star Trek: TNG, "Make it so."

That would be a good move, but unless he is an old, tired, washed up veteran pushing 40 and hitting .220 Stoneman isn't interested.

He's not from the NL.

Consider any chance at a deal as zero.

Only stupid Billy Stonedhead wants NL hitters.

Crede would be an upgrade but that would close the books on McPherson. He might be part of the package in that deal.

I would like the Crede deal, as long as they don't view this as a "solution to our problem", we still need someone in CF,

Tori Hunter is showing some pop this year. Would make a good addition in CF along with Crede. Projected line-up in 2007

Hunter-CF
Kendrick -2B
Vlad- RF
Rivera-LF
Anderson-DH
Crede-3B
Kotchman/Morales-1B
Napoli/Mathis-C
Cabrera-SS

I suppose. But I would only be a fan of the Crede trade if we exhausted all trade opportunities for Wells or say AJones.

Hunter is a free agent and wouldn't cost the Angels players. Crede could be a good pick up without gutting the farm system. Wells or Andruw Jones would be great but Stoneman hasn't shown the abiltiy to pull off a blockbuster trade. Developing the rookies and picking up free agents is miore his style.

Hunter is not a lead off hitter. The Angels will only upgrade one of the positions CF or 3B from outside of the organization. They will still want/need a leadoff hitter. Either Figgy or Iztuis will fill that role. I hope Wells is avaiable in a trade and Stoneman finds a way to make it happen.

GO ANGELS!

If Izzy play then I think OC gets dealt too because they want a powerhitting 3rdbaseman.

i think it would be better for us to maybe try and talk up Figgy and his "skills".

Other teams might be watching us bashing him and realize that he isnt of much use to them. haha.

I guess i'll start.

Figgins is fast...uhh, is that it? oops. (n_n)y.

Dont get me wrong, speed does tons for a team. But, not enough to take up a spot in the line-up over players that actually have a position that they play well.

Oh, wait a minute...as long as Scioscia's the skipper, i dont think anybody's position and spot in the lineup is safe.

The longer we keep figgins the less we'll get for him. So by the time Bill Stoner realizes it, the only person we could probably get straight up for figgy would be alfredo amezaga.

If only figgy could excel at one defensive position. Or if he could bunt as well as he runs. But, i guess thats all wishful thinking.

"If only Figgins can excell at one defensive postion"

If only MS will stop moving him around to every position.

God last year you guys were almost jerking this guy off, now you would trade him for a pile of cr.ap

I think they should play McPherson, actually, and see if he can supply the power that he has been advertised as having. We've seen glimpses of it, and every now and then it has been prodigious. Trouble is, besides not being able to stay healthy, is that Scoiscia doesn't seem to like the kid. I say play him everyday now for the next 19 games, let's see what he can do.

Dude, if youre going to use phrases like "you guys" and such...reply to all. not to me. Im new to the board. So for you to accuse me of pleasuring myself to figgins last year is absolutely ridiculous (almost funny) and closer to offensive.

I never jumped on the figgins bandwagon. I dont deny that he has skill. I was being sarcastic in my last post. in all seriousness:

here's what figgins brings to the team that i believe make a good impact..

1. Speed/baserunning ability
2. "Utility-ness"

THATS ALL!

He can't take pitches (hardly walks). terrible bunter. He still pops up too much, even though he has improved on hitting the ball on the ground. He strikes out like he can hit 30+hrs. His OBP is not good.

He's an off the bench impact player at best. Remember 02? we'd plug him in when we needed him and he would come through every now and then.

And i completely agree with you on the Scioscia comment, i detest his lineup/positioning decisions.

But as for figgy being a nigh-untouchable asset to this team?...not even close i'd deal him in a heartbeat for the right price.

Hunter is NOT a free agent. The Twins have a one year option on him that they are going to use. Unlike the Angels, they won't let star players walk away for nothing.

Figgins + x for Crede is a no brainer. We'd probably be ahead of the A's if we had Crede instead of Figgins this year.
